36mm Rolex Day-Date model 18238 in 18ct yellow gold on President 8385 bracelet with classic champagne / baton dial. This 1988 model comes with later Rolex boxes, correct Day-Date booklet (itself now increasingly valuable!), our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. It is in very good condition but we do note that the glass is a generic replacement, not by Rolex. The 18238 with its 3155 calibre movement was the first model to feature the double quick-set feature for easy, independent alteration of the Day and Date. The NEW equivalent is now £29,500!

    • Collectible “box & papers” set from 1987 ! 34mm stainless steel Oyster Perpetual DATE model 15000 with champagne / baton dial on Jubilee 62510 bracelet. This watch is in very nice condition for its age and contains the 3035 calibre movement which introduced the quick-set date-change feature, but it is an acrylic glass model and we no longer recommend that such watches be considered water-resistant. While the gold-coloured dial seems unusual on a steel watch, this was an option for a number of years and lends an appealing “vintage” feel to it. Comes with its original 15000 box-set, “YOUR ROLEX OYSTER” booklet with 1985 print-code, plastic document wallet with numbered sticker and COSC translation leaflet, numbered green tag and original, punched Rolex papers from Bahrain dated June 1987, which even bear the original “15000” case-back sticker. The bracelet clasp-code, “K8”, suggests that the Jubilee bracelet, which was more expensive and rarer than the Oyster on this model, is also original to the watch. Rolex no longer make a direct NEW equivalent, but a similar Datejust 31 is now £5,650. Of course, the vintage appeal of such a watch creates a market in its own right.
