26mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 69173 on Jubilee 62523 bracelet with attractive silvery-pink / baton dial. In very nice condition, this 1987 model comes with Rolex 69173 box set, a later YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. The NEW equivalent is now £8,850 !
31mm / mid-size Rolex Oyster Perpetual (non-date) model 177234 in steel and white metal with smart black / PALE BLUE index baton / 3-6-9 dial on Oyster 70160 bracelet. In excellent condition, it comes with Rolex boxes, Oyster Perpetual booklet and UK warranty card from Fraser Hart dated July 2014. The new equivalent with a much cheaper, stainless steel bezel (white metal no longer being offered) now has an RRP of £4,750 — but supply is still not meeting demand and residual prices remain very strong.
Outstanding gold Rolex from the later 1970s! 34mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date model 1503 / 8 in 18ct yellow gold with classic champagne / baton dial. The condition of the case, bezel and bracelet indicate that despite its age this watch has so far been only rarely and carefully worn. It is correctly fitted with a light-weight “rivet” Oyster bracelet which is in superb condition, but this type of bracelet does not cope well if given a hard life and so we recommend that this watch be bought for DRESS wear only. Comes with vintage YOUR ROLEX OYSTER instruction booklet, modern Rolex boxes, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. Please note : (1) we no longer guarantee these older models to be water-resistant (2) this 1575 calibre model correctly has no “quick-set” facility for changing the date at the end of a short month, so the wearer must turn the hands through 24 hours to advance or reverse the date and (3) while the bracelet is in exceptional condition, this “rivet” style never proved especially strong and we suggest that it is kept for dress wear only. Ask one of our Rolex-trained specialists, Phil or Paul, to discuss this watch with you.
36mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 16233 on Jubilee 62523 bracelet with silver / diamond dot dial. In lovely condition with Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet and international Rolex papers dated January 1995. The NEW equivalent is now £12,400! Available from Miltons of 36 Borough Pavement, Birkenhead Pyramids.
Bicolour Rolex Date Submariner model 16613 with blue dial and bezel insert on Oyster Fliplock 93153 bracelet. This early 1990s model comes with later Rolex boxes, YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. It is in very pleasing condition, but we do note some signs of age / wear, both factors reflected in this keen price. Some of our watch team are rather excited about what they call the cardinal blue dial on this watch – it has mellowed with age and in some lights can display a pleasant, purplish hue. The NEW equivalent is now £13,150 !

A British Army helicopter pilot’s watch : vintage Rolex 1680 Submariner Date with Mark 2 dial, box & papers! Stainless steel Rolex Submariner Date model 1680 with 6152xxx case number, its original dial being in simply outstanding condition. First purchased by Captain “P” in Singapore during December 1980, this watch retains its original punched papers, plastic document wallet bearing a sticker with the watch’s faded case number on it, YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklet with 1980 print-code, Rolex 68.00.2 box with slotted card interior and “Création Genève” motif inside the lid, a Rolex UK service card dated June 2002 and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. In early 2014 the watch was taken to a Rolex main agent who knew to direct the watch to us, and Miltons (Liverpool) Ltd bought it in February 2014. It lived thereafter unworn in our safes until April 2023 when we sent it to Steven Hale Watch Restoration Limited, a fully accredited Rolex watch-maker and one of the UK’s leading vintage specialists. The watch enjoyed £1,536 worth of work including a full movement service and the fitting of new glass, auto-drive wheel, rotor axle, reversers and barrel, while the paint on the hands was also restored. The black bezel insert was replaced previously and has what we believe to be a Luminova variant “pip.” The Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet with 501 B end-links has a “PJ11″ clasp code, indicating that this, too, is a replacement part from Rolex, probably not fitted earlier than 2009. The watch has a Rolex 1575 calibre movement, the bridge marked 1570 as normal, its unique movement number D856389 shown in the photo-essay linked below. The movement is running well, testing within chronometer tolerance in September 2023, although this will vary slightly depending on the individual wearer. Its case, bracelet and crown are in very good condition but we have not refinished them, allowing them to keep the character reflecting the working life the watch has led, serving Captain P as a military pilot and then with his own helicopter charter company. The case numbering is crisp and clear, the bezel insert is excellent and the bezel rim is very good. A photo-essay of this watch with many more photographs is available by clicking here .
Please note that while we have successfully tested water resistance for normal use including recreational swimming etc, we would advise that more extensive pressure testing be carried out before any significant underwater diving is considered. Many collectors of such vintage Rolex where the dial is a key part of the value wisely choose NOT to swim in them, as a simple mistake in securing the crown or any subsequent and unrecognised deterioration in sealing could see water enter the case, damage the dial and destroy significant value. If you want to emulate Captain “P” and take it up in your helicopter, go for it !

36mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 16233 on Jubilee 62523 bracelet with gorgeous white Mother of Pearl / Roman numeral dial. Comes with both Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet and UK papers from Ernest Jones at Merry Hill in the West Midlands dated February 2003. In very pleasing condition but we do note that the glass is a generic replacement, not by Rolex. The NEW equivalent with just a plain dial is now £10,700 …and while it is not an option on the current version, we note that even in 2012 an MoP / Roman dial added £1,150 to the new price! Available from Miltons of Church Street, Liverpool city centre.

36mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 16233 on Jubilee 62523 bracelet with classic champagne / diamond dot dial in the later style with larger settings. This 2001 model comes with YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklet, later Rolex boxes, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. In very pleasing condition but we do note some signs of wear to the bracelet and that the glass is a generic replacement, not by Rolex. The NEW equivalent is now £12,400 !
Gent’s stainless steel Cartier Santos quartz bracelet watch, case style 1564 with creamy / roman numeral dial. This watch is in very good condition but please note that (1) the glass is a high quality generic replacement and (2) we advise that models with simple push-in crowns like this should not be considered water-proof. Sold with our own presentation box, warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them.

In very nice condition with Rolex 69173 box set, hand-written UK papers from A.E.Halfhide in Wimbledon dated August 1985, a Rolex UK service card dated April 2012 and a later Oyster booklet. Available from Miltons of Chester, under the famous clock.
36mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 16233 on Jubilee 62523 bracelet with smart grey / diamond dot dial in the later style with larger settings. 26mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 79173 on Jubilee 62523 bracelet with champagne / diamond dot dial in the later style with larger settings. When we first sold this watch about eight years ago it still had its original accessories including UK papers from Weir & Sons in Dublin dated August 2003, but these were no longer with it when the watch recently came back to us. In very pleasing condition, it now comes with Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. The NEW equivalent is now £10,550 ! Beautiful example ! Rolex Cosmograph DAYTONA model 16523 in stainless steel and yellow metal on Oyster 78393 bracelet with white dial. Please ask for Phil or Paul in the Miltons Watch Team (both former managers of Rolex Agents, who sold such Daytonas when they were new) to discuss this watch with you.

26mm Rolex Datejust in 18ct yellow gold, model 69178 with sparkling champagne Jubilee / diamond dot dial on President 8570 bracelet. Comes with Datejust booklet, international Rolex papers dated April 1993 and a later Rolex box set. The watch itself is largely in very good condition but we note moderate signs of age / wear to bracelet, reflected in the price. The nearest NEW equivalent is now £24,500! We would generally recommend that any gold Rolex of this age should be considered a dress watch, not intended for hard wear.

Bicolour Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust model 1601(3) from around 1973 with champagne / baton “pie-pan” dial *. This early style of Jubilee 6252H14 bracelet with folded metal links is correct (14 relating to the yellow metal content and suggesting it was first supplied to the USA). Inevitably, at around 50 years old it shows signs of age and wear (reflected in the price) and we recommend that this watch now be saved for dress wear. Originally this watch will have been fitted with the softer, acrylic glass but has more recently been fitted with a generic synthetic sapphire glass that is NOT by Rolex. Typically these are harder-wearing than the originals, although a vintage purist might wish to revert. Because of its age, we offer this watch with only a ONE year warranty and ask you to note : (1) we no longer guarantee these older models to be water-resistant (2) this 1575 calibre model correctly has no “quick-set” facility for changing the date at the end of a short month, so the wearer must turn the hands through 24 hours to advance or reverse the date and (3) the bracelet especially shows signs of age. Ask one of our Rolex-trained specialists, Phil or Paul, to discuss this watch with you. It is priced very reasonably to reflect all the above and comes with a generic presentation box, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them.
* This name reflects the dial profile, its chapter ring edge dropping away from the main, central surface.
31mm / mid-size bicolour Rolex Datejust model 68273 on Jubilee 62523 bracelet with genuine champagne / diamond dot dial by Rolex. It also has a diamond-set bezel which has been custom-made, NOT by Rolex. As loyal devotees to the Rolex brand we are not great fans of customised pieces and will not supply such parts to customer request, but when our pawnbroking departments are left with one that is already fitted there always seems to be a queue of buyers! This 1988 watch is in very pleasing condition, but we do note moderate wear to the bracelet, which is reflected in the price. It comes with later Rolex box, Oyster booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. The NEW equivalent (with just a plain, fluted gold bezel) is now £11,250 !
SOLD36mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 16233 on Jubilee 62523 bracelet with sparkling champagne / diamond dot dial. In very pleasing condition but we do note that the glass is a generic replacement, not by Rolex. 26mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 69173 with classic champagne / diamond dot dial on Jubilee 62523 bracelet. Comes with Rolex boxes, an Oyster booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. The NEW equivalent is now £10,550!
36mm stainless steel and white metal Rolex Datejust model 116234 on Jubilee 63600 bracelet with popular blue / roman numeral dial. In excellent condition, but we do note that the glass is a generic replacement, not by Rolex, which is reflected in the price. It comes with Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. This watch has a random case number, which means it must date from around 2010 ~ 2018. The NEW equivalent is now £7,500 but supply still isn’t meeting demand and residual prices remain very strong. Available from Miltons of Chester, under the famous clock.
Available today, still in service stickers and fresh from Rolex overhaul ! 42mm Rolex Sky-Dweller model 326938 in 18ct yellow gold with gorgeous silvery “sun-dust” / Roman numeral dial on Oyster 72418 bracelet. As with the Daytona, it seems that a Rolex with complicated functions can prove exceptionally popular. This yellow gold model was launched only in 2012 but its brilliant condition suggests this one may be more recent. Comes with large Rolex boxes, Sky-Dweller booklet, red swing-tag and Rolex UK service card dated August 2023 when it had a full movement overhaul and new glass fitted at a cost of £1,268. Ask for our Rolex-trained specialists Phil or Paul to discuss this watch with you. This is a complicated time-piece, but as well as having that precious instruction booklet (phew!) its new owner may also refer to the online user guide and video available on Rolex’s own website. The NEW RRP is £40,400 but even at that price point you may not be able to source one quickly. An additional, close-up photograph of the beautiful dial may be viewed by clicking through the main image.

26mm Rolex Datejust model 179298 in 18ct yellow gold on Jubilee 63138 bracelet with original diamond-set lugs and silver-grey diamond dot dial in the later style with larger settings. A previous owner also had a diamond-set bezel fitted, although this part is custom-made and NOT by Rolex. As loyal devotees to the Rolex brand we are not great fans of customised pieces and will not supply such parts on customer request, but when our pawnbroking departments are left with one already fitted like this there always seems to be a queue of buyers. In very good condition, it still even has the delivery sticker on its case-back! Comes with a large Rolex box set, Datejust booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. When we sold this watch previously it still had its original UK papers dated June 2005, but these were no longer with it when the watch was recently traded back in with us. The nearest NEW equivalent (with just a plain gold, fluted bezel and NO diamond lugs) is now £23,600 !

Sparkling 26mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 179313 with original 12-diamond bezel AND champagne / diamond dot dial on Jubilee 63133 bracelet. This lovely c.2007 example of what we used to call a “double diamond” model comes with Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Register confirming that we checked it with them. In excellent condition and has just had a new glass fitted by a Rolex main agent. There is no direct NEW equivalent, but the closest watch with just a fluted gold bezel now has an RRP of £10,550 (while one with a full diamond bezel is now £15,450)! 29mm Rolex Datejust Pearlmaster / Masterpiece model 80329 in 18ct white gold with original, silver / diamond dot dial and Oyster II 72949 bracelet. Please note that this watch has been customised by a third party (not Rolex) : the original bezel with its strange, trapezoidal single diamond has been replaced with a full diamond bezel and glass that are NOT made by Rolex. As loyal devotees to the Rolex brand we are not great fans of customised pieces and will not supply such parts to customer request, but when our pawnbroking departments are left with one that is already fitted they are usually very popular! Rolex would not provide service support for such a watch, but luckily it contains one of the most common movements and parts / service are available from others. When we first sold this watch about fifteen years ago it still had its original accessories including UK papers from David Morris at Selfridges dated July 2003, but these were no longer with it when the watch was recently traded back in with us. In very pleasing condition, it now comes with later Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them.

Vintage Submariner, FRESH FROM SPECIALIST ROLEX SERVICE by Steven Hale Watch Restoration Ltd. Stainless steel Rolex Submariner model 5513 manufactured around 1984 with 8673xxx case number. The watch features a “SWISS-T<25” tritium dial with white metal surrounds to the hour markers. These dials were introduced on new watches around the time this watch was made, but then also used as service replacement dials for any 5513s which needed them. Codes inside the case-back suggest that this watch was serviced by Rolex UK in Summer 1989 and early 1996. Miltons (Liverpool) Ltd bought the watch in January 2017 and in Summer 2023 sent it to Stephen Hale, a fully accredited Rolex watch-maker and one of the UK’s leading vintage specialists. The watch enjoyed £1,500 worth of work including a full service and the fitting of new tube gaskets, plexi glass, 4th wheel, auto-drive, rotor axle and black bezel insert (with what we believe to be a Luminova variant “pip”), while the luminous material on the hands was also restored. The Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet with 580 end-links has an “S X11” clasp code, suggesting that is a replacement service part that was fitted around the millennium. The rest of the bracelet shows some signs of age and wear, but this generation of Oysters was substantial and it has many years of reasonable wear left. It has a Rolex 1520 calibre movement which is running very well after service, although it will vary slightly depending on the individual wearer. Its new glass and bezel insert are of course in perfect condition having just been replaced. The case, crown and bezel rim are in very good condition, while the case numbering is crisp and clear. Comes with period-correct Rolex 67.00.08 box-set and 1987 English Submariner instruction booklet (themselves being accessories of some value!), our own warranty card, a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them and a copy of the invoice from SHWR listing all work carried out. A photo-essay of this watch with many more photographs is available by clicking here.
Please note that while the watch has just been restored to Rolex standards and we have ourselves successfully tested water resistance for normal use including recreational swimming etc, our default position with such vintage pieces is to advise that more extensive pressure testing be carried out before any significant underwater diving is considered. Many collectors of such vintage Rolex where the dial is a key part of the value wisely choose NOT to swim in them, as a simple mistake in securing the crown or any subsequent and unrecognised deterioration in sealing could see water enter the case, damage the dial and destroy significant value.

In beautiful condition, it comes with Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet and UK warranty card from G.H.Dipple & Son in Norwich dated December 2013. Most impressive gold Daytona! Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model 116505 in 18ct rose gold with “chocolate” (brown) / applied Arabic numeral dial on Oysterlock 78595 bracelet. Comes with large Rolex boxes, Cosmograph Daytona booklet and red swing-tag. It also has its international Rolex warranty card from Belgium, although we believe the hand-written date of sale to have been altered. From the watch’s random case number and the style of warranty card, we believe that this watch will actually have been supplied between 2010 and 2014. It is in excellent condition with immaculate bracelet and negligible wear to the glass / bezel. The NEW equivalent is now £35,800 but lack of availability continues to support strong residual prices.

On Deposit - SALE AGREEDOutstanding example of a desirable model, suitable for a lady or gentleman! 34mm stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King model 114200 with smart silver / PALE BLUE index baton / 3-6-9 dial on Oyster 70190 bracelet. In excellent condition with both boxes, YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklet and UK warranty card from F.A.Buck Jewellers in Hanley dated July 2009. A NEW Air-King now costs £6,250 but in truth a closer new equivalent may be the plain Oyster Perpetual 34 model 124200 at £4,850. However, supply is still not meeting demand and this attractive dial is no longer an option, so good examples attract a premium. Available from Miltons of Church Street, Liverpool city centre.
The epitome of “stealth wealth” : 18ct white gold Daytona, in excellent condition after spending much of its short life in a safe! 18ct white gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model 116519LN with smart “steel / bright black” / index baton dial, black Oysterflex strap and ceramic bezel. Both black rubber sections of the strap are NEW, supplied in 2023 by a Rolex main agent. These models are just as likely to be worn by gents or ladies now. Has large, original boxes, Cosmograph Daytona booklet, green swing-tag and UK warranty card from The Watches of Switzerland Group (Goldsmiths etc) dated August 2019. The NEW equivalent is now £27,050 but availability of many similar specification Daytonas remains poor, so we are selling it at a small premium (but less than many other dealers). The strap will fit a man’s average wrist and offers a small amount of adjustment, but if a different length is required we will order one on an exchange basis. We would anticipate doing this at no additional cost, but there may be some weeks’ wait for such a strap to arrive from Rolex. Additional pictures may be viewed by clicking through the main image.

Then consider this extraordinary stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36 (non-date) model 126000 on Oyster 72HB00 bracelet with eye-catching “CORAL RED” / index baton dial that was produced for only a limited period. In outstanding condition, it comes with both boxes, Oyster Perpetual booklet, green swing-tag and international Rolex warranty card dated September 2020. The NEW equivalent is now £5,100 but it is no longer available with this desirable and distinctive dial. Supply is still not meeting demand at the moment and many stainless steel Rolex are attracting a premium, as here.

Collectible, “full set” 1989 Submariner ! In production for just over twenty years, this is one of the earliest examples of the stainless steel Rolex Date Submariner model 16610 with black bezel insert and tritium dial on 93150 bracelet. It comes with original 16610 box set (ref 68.00.2 with cushion & wrap / cardboard outer and in exceptional condition), both ROLEX SUBMARINER and YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklets *, both red COSC chronometer swing-tag and the numbered green “OYSTER SWIMPRUF” swing-tag, UK papers from Lepps in Warrington dated August 1989 in black document holder with translation leaflet, Rolex 1989-1990 calendar card and even the novelty “silver string” Rolex 1.000 / 300 anchor charm – accessories which on their own are worth several hundred pounds but when still accompanying the unique watch with which they were supplied add so much more ! The bracelet is in excellent condition, has correct 501 B end links and an “M11” clasp code suggesting manufacture of that part in November 1988. The watch head with L249xxx case number is in very good condition with thick lugs and only minor signs of wear to glass and bezel insert. The “SWISS – T < 25” dial is original and like many from this era it is a “spider” dial — that is to say, its gloss black surface has over time “crazed” with a fine pattern that is often hard to see with the naked eye, usually stable and resembles threads of a spider’s silk under magnification. A macro (close-up) image to illustrate this may be viewed by clicking through the main picture. It correctly has a 16610 case-back marked inside with the first four characters of the case number and a 3135 calibre Rolex movement bearing unique number 5223450. It still has the original green factory sticker, albeit quite worn, on the case-back! The larger, NEW equivalent Submariner is now £8,650 (if you can find one….) but the earlier models have proved increasingly popular in their own right and a “full set” like this is increasingly rare on the market.
* The Submariner booklet is a particularly desirable version. It has the print code “594.52 Eng – 7 – 9.1988” which indicates that it was intended for the English market and printed in September 1988. Importantly, it includes pictures / instructions for two very desirable models, the non-date Submariner 5513 and the Sea-Dweller 16660.

31mm / mid-size stainless steel Rolex Datejust model 68240 on Oyster 78350 bracelet with silvery-pink / diamond dot dial and a diamond-set bezel which has been custom-made, NOT by Rolex. As loyal devotees to the Rolex brand we are not great fans of customised pieces and will not supply such parts to customer request, but when our pawnbroking departments are left with one that is already fitted there always seems to be a queue of buyers! This early 1990s watch is in very pleasing condition with only moderate wear to the bracelet. Comes with later Rolex box, YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them.
26mm Rolex Datejust model 69178 in 18ct yellow gold on President 8570 bracelet with champagne / diamond dot dial in the later style with larger settings. A previous owner also had a diamond-set bezel fitted elsewhere, although this part is custom-made and NOT by Rolex. As loyal devotees to the Rolex brand we are not great fans of customised pieces and will not supply such parts on customer request, but when our pawnbroking departments are left with one already fitted like this there always seems to be a queue of buyers! In very good condition, it comes with large Rolex box set, Datejust booklet, numbered green swing-tag and UK papers from Mappin & Webb in Glasgow dated May 1995. The NEW equivalent (with just a plain gold, fluted bezel) is now £24,500 !

On Deposit - SALE AGREED26mm Rolex Datejust in 18ct yellow gold, model 69178 with sparkling champagne / diamond dot dial on President 8570 bracelet. This 1990 model comes with large, original “tapestry top” box set, YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklet, original shop receipt from Rolex main agents F.A.Buck Jewellers Ltd in Stoke-on-Trent dated March 1991, Rolex UK service slip dated June 2004, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. The watch itself is largely in very good condition but we note moderate signs of age / wear to bracelet and some discolouration to parts of the dial, reflected in the price. The nearest NEW equivalent is now £24,500! We would generally recommend that any gold Rolex of this age should be considered a dress watch, not intended for hard wear.

On Deposit - SALE AGREEDApparently UNWORN – still in delivery stickers ! 36mm stainless steel Rolex Datejust model 116200 on Oyster 72200 bracelet with bright white / index baton dial and roulette date wheel. In outstanding condition, it comes with Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet, numbered green swing-tag and UK warranty card from A.E.Halfhide & Co in Wimbledon dated July 2007. The NEW equivalent is now £6,300 but supply remains poor relative to demand and residual prices reflect that. Please ask one of our team to demonstrate the fold-out “comfort-link” on this model’s bracelet. Available from Miltons of Church Street, Liverpool city centre.

SOLDStill in stickers from Rolex UK Service! 36mm Rolex Datejust model 16238 in 18ct yellow gold with silver / diamond dot dial dial on a Rolex strap. This circa 1990 model comes with brown “luggage” style Rolex box, Datejust booklet, a scanned extract of Rolex UK service paperwork and their service guarantee card dated March 2021. At that time the watch enjoyed £1,192 worth of work including a full movement overhaul, new glass, spring-bars, crown, alligator strap and gold-plated Rolex pin-buckle! It was 2011 when a NEW equivalent 36mm gold Datejust on a strap was last offered in the UK and with a diamond dot dial this would have cost £13,630 then. Prices generally have risen very considerably in the 12 following years ! This watch is in excellent condition and we believe it has been barely out of the box since the 2021 service. Under close examination we can see some signs of superficial, historic grazing to the bezel and that the model number has worn off, but the crucial, unique case number is very clear and this corresponds with Rolex’s records, confirming it to be a 16238.

Colourful variant, no longer offered by Rolex ! 40mm stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Milgauss model 116400GV on Oyster 72400A bracelet with “Z-Blue” / index dial, orange “lightning bolt” seconds hand and green-tinted synthetic sapphire glass. Has Rolex boxes, Milgauss booklet, red swing-tag and and UK warranty card from John D. Eaton Ltd in Derby dated October 2014. The highly anti-magnetic Milgauss models were re-introduced into the Rolex range over 15 years ago but this last version with its striking green glass / blue dial was especially popular. When it last appeared in UK price lists the NEW RRP was £7,850, but like many of the more unusual steel Professional models, it was always a very hard watch to source at main agents. Interest has only increased now production seems to have stopped. Priced reasonably to reflect superficial wear to the edge of the glass.

Stainless steel Rolex Date Submariner model 116610LN with black dial and ceramic bezel insert on Oyster Glidelock 97200 bracelet. This watch is in excellent condition, coming with Rolex boxes, Submariner Date booklet, numbered green swing-tag and UK warranty card from H. Johnson & Son in Nuneaton dated December 2013. The NEW equivalent is now £8,650 but both versions have been very hard to find in the UK, so we are selling it at a premium. Clearly if you can find a new one at RRP then you should buy it – we wish we could!

Comes with later box set, Datejust booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. This late 1980s model is in very pleasing condition but we do note some signs of age and wear to the bracelet. The NEW equivalent is now £27,100 !

SOLDVintage Rolex GMT-Master with original Mark 5B dial *, so-called PEPSI bezel and in outstanding condition, still in Rolex UK service stickers! Stainless steel Rolex GMT-Master model 1675 from around 1978 with 557xxxx case number. It was most recently serviced by Rolex UK in February 2017 and was then bought by S.S.Milton Ltd in Chester later that year. Still in its striped service stickers, it has lived thereafter unworn in our safes. Extensive service history may be viewed in our photo-essay (see link below). The Oyster 78360 bracelet with 580 end-links has an “O1” clasp code, suggesting that is an early 1990 replacement part. It has a Rolex 1575 calibre movement, the bridge marked 1570 as normal, its unique movement number D724674 shown in the photo-essay linked below. The movement is running well, testing close to spot on for time-keeping in July 2023, although this will vary slightly depending on the individual wearer. Its case, crown and glass are in excellent condition, the case numbering is crisp and clear, the bezel insert is excellent and the bezel rim is very good, if evenly worn. The bracelet shows some signs of age and wear, but this generation of Oysters was substantial and it has many years of reasonable wear left. The watch appears to have had little wear following the 2017 service by Rolex UK and since we bought it in September 2017 has simply sat in one of the Miltons’ safes! Comes with its original “sea-horse” Rolex box set (ref 10 001) with “50 YEARS OF THE ROLEX OYSTER” plaque, GMT-Master “clouds” booklet (itself rare and worth hundreds of pounds!), Rolex service slips from 2009 and 2017, further service paperwork from the Rolex main agent, Goldsmiths and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. A photo-essay of this watch with many more photographs is available by clicking here. Look at that beautiful, original dial with matching hands! Many more macro images may be viewed by clicking that link. If you want to fly your ‘plane in it of course, go right ahead !
* We write more about the classification of Rolex 1675 dials and provide a link to a superb website on the subject in the separate photo-essay which is available by clicking on the gold text above.

Stainless steel 40mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual Milgauss model 116400 with black / index baton dial having orange detail and “lightning bolt” seconds hand, on Oyster 72400 bracelet. Comes with both boxes, Milgauss booklet, UK warranty card dated November 2008 from David M. Robinson in Chester (before that store closed down) and a Rolex UK service card dated June 2012. In very nice condition, but we do note superficial wear to the glass including a small surface scratch near the 7 o’clock marker, which is reflected in the price. The original Milgauss was the model 6541 introduced back in 1956; subsequent models remained in production until 1988, albeit for the most part in the form of the next-generation 1019 variant. It was designed as an especially anti-magnetic model for nuclear scientists near Rolex HQ in Switzerland, but with time became a rare and desirable line. This watch is one of the newer models launched at Basel in 2007, but as yet another discontinued version it now has a market all of its own. Many clients admire the Milgauss simply for being such a big watch, with its lovely, clear dial options and funky colour accents. Available from Miltons of Church Street, Liverpool city centre.

Desirable model in beautiful condition ! 42mm stainless steel and white metal Rolex Sky-Dweller model 326934 with black / index baton dial on Oyster 72220 bracelet. As with the Rolex Daytona, it seems that a steel Rolex with complicated functions can prove exceptionally popular. Comes with Rolex boxes, Sky-Dweller booklet, green COSC swing-tag, five-year warranty translation booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. It has also just had a new glass fitted by Rolex UK. Most other examples on the market at the time of writing have their original warranty card and are priced well above the NEW equivalent which is £13,150 (and clearly if you could obtain one for that price then you should). Our keen price reflects the fact that this watch lacks its original warranty card, but it remains one of the most desirable models, in superb condition and — crucially — is available today.

Stainless steel Daytona with box and 2014 warranty card, a former insurance write-off now revived with parts from another steel Daytona and priced to reflect its compromised status. Stainless steel Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model 116520, case number 1J9715U9 with black dial on Oysterlock 78490 bracelet. Has Rolex boxes, Cosmograph Daytona booklet, red swing-tag and international Rolex warranty card dated July 2014 when it appears to have been sold in Japan (possibly by the Rolex main agent Tompkins). This random case number watch is now in very attractive condition but its history and status needs to be documented clearly. We bought it in May 2018 from insurers in an unsaleable state. It had no bracelet, a fake black ceramic bezel and a skeletonised dial with broken balance assembly in its correct Rolex 4130 calibre movement. Insurers had asked Rolex UK to restore it but in January 2018 the latter rejected it because of the modifications. Rolex often “black-ball” such a watch and will not then service it again, although independent watch-makers can. We bought it as it was, in the hope of one day restoring it or using the parts. Then in June 2023 we bought another Rolex Daytona 116520 (circa 2005) from a regional UK police force. This second watch was also unsaleable in its own right because its mid-case had been re-numbered ( to F981806 ), but we realised that it could be the donor of other parts for the first watch. We then fitted the correct Rolex steel bezel and black dial from the second Daytona onto the first, with the Oysterlock 78490 bracelet and complete balance assembly (non-Parachrom). It should be noted that the 2014 watch we are selling would have had a 78590 bracelet rather than the almost identical 78490 from the 2005 watch that has been fitted, similarly it would have had a Parachrom balance rather than the non-Parachrom from the earlier watch, while the glass fitted is generic, not by Rolex. The latest ceramic bezel model now has a NEW RRP of £12,700 but like its predecessors will be almost impossible to get from main agents and found on the secondary market offered with a large premium. The earlier 116520 is an enduringly popular choice and remains in its own right one of the most sought after models. If you have any questions about this watch, please ask to speak with one of Miltons Watch Team, including two former managers of Rolex main agents. For interest only, an image of the watch that we are selling shown next to the “left-over” parts assembled in a second, monstrous watch that we won’t be retailing may be viewed by clicking through the main picture. A tabular record of the parts used from the two source watches should also then be visible.

36mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 16203 with polished bezel on Oyster 78363 bracelet with striking black / diamond dot dial. Comes with Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. The diamond dial is a genuine Rolex one and correct for this model, but appears to be from a slightly earlier period and has been fitted retrospectively. Champagne and silver dials were much more common, but many will seek out the rarer black dial which creates such a lovely contrast against the sparkling diamonds. This 2001 model is in excellent condition but we do note that the glass is a generic replacement, not by Rolex. The NEW equivalent is now £11,750! Available from Miltons of Chester, under the famous clock.
On Deposit - SALE AGREED36mm stainless steel Rolex Datejust model 116200 with pink / index baton dial on Jubilee 63600 bracelet. The watch has been fitted previously with a custom-made diamond-set bezel which is NOT by Rolex. As loyal devotees to the Rolex brand we are not great fans of customised pieces and will not supply such individual parts on customer request, but when our pawnbroking departments are left with one already fitted like this there always seems to be a queue of buyers! In excellent condition with minimal wear to the glass, it comes with Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet and international warranty card dated August 2015. The nearest NEW equivalent (with just a polished steel bezel) now has an RRP of £6,450 — but availability of most stainless steel models is currently very poor, keeping residual prices very strong.

SOLDOne of the most wearable vintage Sea-Dwellers available! Stainless steel Rolex Sea-Dweller 1665 from around 1975 with 408xxxx case number and straight “ROLEX” text across the case-back. Yes, those in the know will realise that the case number and case-back style prove that this watch was originally an even more highly desirable “Double Red” Sea-Dweller, but in 2004 it was serviced by Rolex UK who fitted this new “Great White” service replacement dial with Luminova markers. They also appear to have fitted a new Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet with 585 end-links (its “S DT4” clasp code identifying it as a service part, manufactured in April 2002). The main 1665 case and 1665 case-back both show the same, matching 408xxxx case number in full. It has a Rolex 1575 calibre movement, the bridge marked 1570 as normal, and its unique movement number D952xxx is shown in the photo-essay linked below. The movement is running well, testing on average to be + 4 seconds per day in July 2023, although this will vary slightly depending on the individual wearer. Its case, bracelet, crown and glass are in excellent condition, the case numbering is crisp and clear, the bezel insert is is excellent and the bezel rim is very good – we note a small bump on its inner rim, near the 3 minute marker. The watch appears to have had little wear after the 2004 service by Rolex and since April 2016 has simply sat in one of the Miltons’ safes! Offered with a period-correct Rolex box (ref 67.00.03), our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. It is interesting to note that the case numbers of this batch of 1665s appear to sit adjacent to a batch of rare Submariner 5514s made for the French diving company COMEX. A photo-essay of this watch with many more photographs is available by clicking here. While we might have preferred that it retained its original and much more valuable dial, this watch in its refurbished form and with the extremely good bracelet offers much of the charm of a vintage Sea-Dweller combined with the smart look and wearable nature of a later model. Please note that while we have successfully tested water resistance for normal use including recreational swimming etc, we would advise that more extensive pressure testing be carried out before any significant underwater diving is considered.
Our extensive research and record-keeping over many years leads us to conclude that Sea-Dweller 1665s featured the word “ROLEX” written straight across the case back on all watches with case numbers below c. 520xxxx, after which “ROLEX” was written in a conspicuously curved style. That same research allows us to determine that Double Red dials were fitted in Sea-Dweller 1665s until at least the high 529xxxx range of case numbers, after which they fitted dials with text all in white. More is written about this in our photo-essay, available through the link above.

Stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King Precision model 14000 with popular blue / baton dial on Oyster 78350 bracelet. In excellent condition, it comes with Rolex boxes, Your Rolex Oyster booklet and UK papers from Watches of Switzerland in London dated June 1996. A NEW Air-King now costs £6,250 if you can find one, but realistically a closer new equivalent may be the plain Oyster Perpetual 34 model 124200 at £4,850….and neither watch is readily available at the time of writing. Available from Miltons of Church Street, Liverpool city centre.
42mm (extra large) 18ct rose gold Ballon Bleu de Cartier, automatic strap watch model W6900651 / case reference 2999 with smart silver / roman numeral dial. In lovely condition, it comes with original Cartier boxes, instruction and certificate booklets from the famous jeweller Wempe dated October 2013. The NEW equivalent is now £16,800 ! Additional images may be seen by clicking through the main picture. Please note (1) this is NOT sold as a water-proof watch (2) such Cartiers are essentially very stylish DRESS watches; the automatic movements inside them are rarely perfect time-keepers and can seem noisy when the self-winding rotor turns (3) we would normally advise that anything between – 10 to + 15 seconds per day should be expected on these models, even after a service, but regular winding can help to moderate this.

Please note that the Emergency distress transmitter on this watch has previously been activated and is now disabled, but all other functions appear to be in order. Bargain price reflects its compromised / reduced status and some signs of wear to the glass, bezel etc. Still a distinctive piece, this 2006 watch comes with Breitling service zip-pouch, a scanned copy of English instructions, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. Please ask for a demonstration of the complicated functions by one of our Breitling-trained specialists, Phil or Paul.

It comes with a Cartier box, Roadster instructions booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. SOLDLady’s 26mm stainless steel Rolex Datejust model 69174 on Jubilee 62510 bracelet with silver / diamond dot dial and diamond bezel which have been custom-made, NOT by Rolex. Please note that while this style of channel-set bezel creates a sparkling piece, stones may be lost if it suffers hard wear or a sharp knock — so we advise that it is used for dress wear only. As loyal devotees to the Rolex brand we are not great fans of customised pieces and will not supply such parts on customer request, but when our pawnbroking departments are left with one already fitted like this there always seems to be a queue of buyers! This 1997 model is in very pleasing condition but under close examination we do not some minor signs of age / wear to the dial and bracelet. Comes with later Rolex box, YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them.
On Deposit - SALE AGREED35mm stainless steel Cartier Pasha C “Big Date” automatic bracelet watch, case ref. 2475 with white dial and large date display, suitable for a gentleman or lady to wear. Comes with Cartier box, instructions and certificate booklet dated October 2004. The nearest new equivalent 35mm Pasha listed on Cartier’s website at the time of writing has an RRP of £6,450 ! Please note: such Cartiers are essentially very stylish DRESS watches; the automatic movements inside them are rarely perfect time-keepers and can seem noisy when the self-winding rotor turns. 44mm stainless steel Breitling Colt Chronograph II quartz bracelet watch. This model A73388 with black dial / silver sub-dials was manufactured in 2015 and is in very good condition with only superficial wear to glass and bezel, having spent much of its short life in our pawnbroking safes. It comes with original Breitling pouch, numbered swing-tag, a Chrono Colt II instruction booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. This model is no longer produced but the new price in July 2016 was £2,910. Please ask for a demonstration by our Breitling-trained colleagues, Phil Ellison or Paul Aspinall.
SOLDBicolour Rolex Date Submariner model 16613 with blue dial and bezel insert on Oyster Fliplock 93153 bracelet. Comes with original Rolex 16613 boxes, Submariner booklet, numbered green swing-tag and UK papers from The Jewellers and Silversmiths Co Ltd in Surrey dated August 1995. This watch is in very pleasing condition, but we do note some signs of age / wear and that the glass fitted is generic, not by Rolex, both factors reflected in this keen price. Some of our watch team are rather excited about what they call the hint of cardinal blue they can see in the dial on this watch – it has mellowed with age and in some lights can display a pleasant, purplish hue. The NEW equivalent is now £13,150 ! Available from Miltons of Church Street, Liverpool city centre.

In superb condition, it comes with both boxes, Oyster Perpetual booklet, numbered green swing-tag and UK warranty card from David M. Robinson in Liverpool dated November 2013. A NEW Air-King now costs £6,250 but in truth a closer new equivalent may be the plain Oyster Perpetual 34 model 124200 at £4,850. Supply is still not meeting demand and residual prices of such watches remain very strong.
SOLD2022 watch with latest dial – barely worn after spending much of its short life in the safe! 44mm stainless steel Rolex Yachtmaster II model 116680 with white dial and blue ceramic bezel insert on Oysterlock 78210 bracelet. Has both boxes, Yachtmaster II instruction booklet, both swing-tags and international Rolex warranty card dated June 2022, when it was purchased from Goldsmiths in Liverpool. The NEW RRP is now £15,700 but (as with many steel versions of the Rolex professional series) supply is limited and residual prices have a life of their own. This is a complicated watch but fortunately it retains the valuable instruction booklet. Rolex also provide a video guide on their website, which we can locate for you if required. Please note the triangular marker at the top of the dial, where earlier examples had just a square marker like those either side of it.

Comes with Rolex boxes, Submariner booklet, international Rolex warranty card dated July 2009 and Rolex UK service card dated November 2021. SOLDWe’re all “wowed” by the dial on this rose gold Daytona – and it’s in fantastic condition, with delivery sticker still on case-back, after spending much of its short life in a safe! 18ct “Everose” gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model 116515LN with stunning “sundust” / index baton dial, black Oysterflex strap and ceramic bezel. These models are just as likely to be worn by gents or ladies now. Has large, original boxes, Cosmograph Daytona booklet, green swing-tag and international Rolex warranty card dated September 2021. The NEW equivalent is now £27,050 but availability of any similar specification Daytona remains poor, so we are selling it at a small premium (but less than many other dealers).

Gorgeous 2023 example of the most sought-after BLUE dial Rolex Sky-Dweller! Stainless steel and white metal Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller model 326934 with blue / index baton dial on Jubilee 62220 bracelet. As with the Rolex Daytona, it seems that a steel Rolex with complicated functions can prove exceptionally popular – and very difficult to buy new from a main agent. We are selling it at a premium to the new list price. Comes with original boxes, Sky-Dweller booklet, both swing-tags, international Rolex warranty card dated January 2023 and even the delivery bezel protector. A NEW equivalent is now £13,300 and clearly if you could obtain one for that price then you should. Good luck! Available from Miltons of Chester, under the famous clock.

On Deposit - SALE AGREEDOne of the prettiest Datejusts we’ve seen! 31mm / mid-size steel and rose metal Rolex Datejust model 178341 with original diamond “scatter” bezel on Oyster 72161 bracelet. The shimmering highlight is the original white Mother of Pearl / Roman numeral dial with diamond detail in the “VI” ! This watch is in lovely condition with negligible wear to the glass. Has Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet, red swing-tag, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. This exact dial is no longer offered, but we can deduce that if Rolex made one a NEW equivalent would now be £13,450 (£13,100 for a standard diamond “VI” dial, plus £350 premium for MoP). Availability of such models continues to be poor, keeping residual prices very strong. This watch has a random case number, which means it must date from around 2010 ~ 2018. Available from Miltons of Chester, under the famous clock.

SOLDMagnificent, all-original gold and diamond Rolex! 34mm Rolex Datejust model 81338 on original “chevron” diamond-set 74858 bracelet with double-diamond bezel and full pavé diamond / black enamel roman numeral dial. This stunning piece is in brilliant condition (well, it’s probably not a watch for every day wear!) and it even has the case-back sticker still in place. Comes with HUGE Rolex presentation / jewellery box set, Datejust booklet, red chronometer swing-tag and original UK papers dated August 2006. From our archived records we have found this exact specification offered in the Rolex UK October 2008 price list (shortly before it appears to have been discontinued) at £45,510 …but prices for new watches have risen enormously since then. Further images may be viewed by clicking through the main picture. Please note that this style of bracelet correctly has plain gold links (without diamonds) on the clasp side, where any diamond setting would be more exposed to wear and damage.

SOLDHighly desirable Rolex “HULK” Submariner. Stainless steel Rolex Date Submariner model 116610LV with green dial and ceramic bezel insert on Oyster Glidelock 97200 bracelet. Comes with Rolex boxes, Submariner booklet, red chronometer swing-tag, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. This model was sold for around ten years from 2010 ~ 2020 and has for a long time been one of the most desirable. It is in excellent condition, our only point of note being the bezel “pip” which is cracked, although this is hard to see without magnification. The NEW equivalent is now £9,100 but both versions have been exceptionally hard to find in the UK, so we had to pay and are in turn selling it at a significant premium. Clearly if you can find a new one at RRP then you should buy it – we wish we could! Available from Miltons of Chester, under the famous clock.
