  • Latest model ! Stainless steel and white metal Rolex Datejust 36, model 126234 on Jubilee 62800 / articulated clasp bracelet with smart black / index baton dial. This is the latest 36mm model with both boxes, Datejust booklet, both swing-tags and international Rolex warranty card dated April 2022. The NEW RRP is now £7,850 but supply still seems weak in the UK, so we are selling it at a tiny premium. Clearly if you can find a new one at RRP then you might wish to buy that instead – but good luck finding one !

  • Latest model ! Gentleman’s 40mm Rolex Yachtmaster in 18ct Everose gold, model 126655 with “intense black” dial and Oysterflex strap / Everose Oysterlock clasp. This recent addition to the Yachtmaster range was launched in 2019 has proved especially popular ! In excellent condition, it comes with Rolex boxes, Yachtmaster booklet, green swing-tag, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. The NEW RRP is now £25,300 but this is one of many sports / professional models that has been hard to obtain in the UK and residual prices remain strong. The strap will fit a man’s average wrist and offers a small amount of adjustment at the clasp, but if a different length is required and we don’t have one to swap, then we may have to order one on an exchange basis. We would anticipate doing this at no additional cost, but there may be some weeks’ wait for such a strap to arrive from Rolex.

  • Bought from a private collection : an UNWORN example of this discontinued model from 2005, still with delivery sticker on case-back! A classic “two-line” Rolex Submariner with box and UK papers ! Stainless steel Rolex non-date Submariner model 14060M with black dial and bezel insert on Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet. This D-case number watch has the classic dial with “two-line” text (no mention of chronometer status) and blank inner rehaut (whereas later watches had more text on the dial and the rehaut was engraved). It is in mint condition, having come from an extensive collector’s safe, unworn and with only superficial indications that the bracelet has been removed to check the case number. It comes with Rolex boxes, Submariner booklet and UK papers card from John Pass the Jeweller in Crewe dated December 2005. In recent years buyers have shown their appreciation for the proportions and value of this earlier generation of Rolex sports models. We are selling it at a premium to the list price of the fatter, new equivalent which is now £8,050 — if only you could find one. This watch attracts collector interest, especially in such condition.

  • 26mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 79163 with bright white / applied Roman numeral dial on Oyster 78243 bracelet. This 2002 model comes with Rolex boxes, Your Rolex Oyster booklet and our own warranty card. The NEW equivalent is now £8,650 ! This watch is priced to reflect some wear to the bracelet and the fact that the case and model numbers are both substantially worn. *

    * Ladies’ Rolex Datejusts of this generation are often now found with one or more of the numerals in the case number obscured by bracelet wear. This was caused by the end-links rubbing constantly against the case. In this instance the third and fourth digits of the unique case number are obscured by bracelet wear, but we purchased it from a Rolex main agent and are thus confident of its provenance.

The latest NEW equivalent, ceramic bezel models now have an RRP of £13,200 but “waiting lists” are generally laughable and a typical premium is the norm in the secondhand market.

They bear no visible details of the watch or service, but instead a QR code that leads to an on-line demonstration of how to access the associated watch’s service details. By holding an enabled smart-phone next to the card, an NFC link is provided which brings up the watch’s unique details and in this instance confirms that it has a service warranty which runs until December 2025.

  • Classic 1970s Rolex Explorer / Explorer 1 * with “Frog’s Foot” dial, FRESH FROM SPECIALIST ROLEX SERVICE by Steven Hale Watch Restoration Ltd. ! Various generations of stainless steel Explorer with their classic and easy-to-read black / 3-6-9 dials have been celebrated as the choice for adventurers. After a few early models like the 6150 (as issued to the Royal Navy Hydographic Survey), the Explorer model 1016  was introduced and during some thirty years in production this model earned its reputation as a classic collectible. This Rolex Explorer 1016 with 298xxxx case number has a case-back date-stamped for the first quarter of 1972. It retains its original “Mark 1” matt black / Arabic quarters “Frog’s Foot” dial, so called because the Rolex coronet is printed in a distinctive style that is reminiscent of a frog’s webbed foot. The dial is clean to the naked eye although with a 10x loupe one can find some tiny marks, and it has well-matched hands that we believe are the originals. The bracelet is the light-weight, folded steel Oyster 7836 with 358 end-links, in very nice condition. It has a Rolex 1570 calibre movement with unique movement number 236642 as illustrated in the photo-essay linked below. The movement is running well, testing at a gain of only a few second per day on average in October 2023, although this will vary slightly depending on the individual wearer. Its mid case is in fine condition with lugs that have not been over-polished, the crown and bezel are excellent and the case numbering is crisp and clear. Offered with a genuine Explorer 1016 / 1655 instruction booklet (itself a valuable collectible!), Rolex “Green-Stripe” box-set (matching inner and outers ref 06.00.06), red COSC swing-tag, plastic document wallet and chronometer translation leaflet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. M.S.Milton Ltd in Birkenhead bought this watch from an individual in January 2019. It lived thereafter unworn in our safes until April 2023 when we sent it to Steven Hale Watch Restoration Limited, a fully accredited Rolex watch-maker and one of the UK’s leading vintage specialists. The watch enjoyed £1,596 worth of work including a full movement service and the fitting of new glass, flush-fit ends, rotor axle, reversers, barrel, tube, upper crown and core. A photo-essay of this watch with many more photographs is available by clicking here. This watch in its refurbished form will perhaps attract the discerning and discreet collector with an appreciation of Rolex’s 20th century history. Please note that while we have successfully tested water resistance for normal use including recreational swimming etc, we would advise that more extensive pressure testing be carried out before any significant underwater diving is considered.

    * The Rolex EXPLORER in all its permutations (6350, 6150, 1016, 5504, 5500, 14270, 114270 etc) never featured the title “EXPLORER I” on its dial, but has often been referred to as that, since the introduction of the explicitly-named EXPLORER II. Through the years there have thus been many people who say we should not use the title “EXPLORER I”, claiming that no such watch ever existed. Frustrated with this, our Managing Director compiled research from the Miltons archives to prove that Rolex themselves have referred to the “EXPLORER I” for many decades — and his findings are often now quoted when the matter arises in internet discussion. If such detail is of interest to you, much of his evidence may be found by following this link.

Comes with Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet, numbered green swing-tag, Rolex papers from Kowloon dated October 1994 and Rolex UK service slip dated June 1999. • AVAILABLE TODAY ! BLUE DIAL, white gold “PEPSI” GMT-Master ! Magnificent 18ct white gold Rolex GMT-Master II model 116719 BLRO (an acronym for BLeu / ROuge, the French for Blue / Red). Comes on Oysterlock 78209 bracelet with the desirable DARK BLUE dial * and red / blue “Pepsi” ceramic bezel insert. In beautiful condition, having spent much of its life in our pawnbroking safes. Has Rolex boxes, GMT-Master II booklet and green swing-tag. The watch also came with what appears to be a warranty card from Sao Paulo dated January 2020, but some unusual features make us doubt the card’s authenticity and it is included with the sale only on that compromised basis. We do include with the watch a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. A NEW equivalent is now £35,600 — but often very hard to obtain !

    * Earlier examples of this model came with a black dial, but when a stainless steel “Pepsi” was released it looked too similar. For those in the know, the blue dial (introduced around 2018) ensures your white gold GMT won’t be mistaken as a “mere” stainless steel model !

  • Outstanding gold Rolex from the later 1970s! 34mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date model 1503 / 8 in 18ct yellow gold with classic champagne / baton dial. The condition of the case, bezel and bracelet indicate that despite its age this watch has so far been only rarely and carefully worn. It is correctly fitted with a light-weight “rivet” Oyster bracelet which is in superb condition, but this type of bracelet does not cope well if given a hard life and so we recommend that this watch be bought for DRESS wear only. Comes with vintage YOUR ROLEX OYSTER instruction booklet, modern Rolex boxes, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. Please note : (1) we no longer guarantee these older models to be water-resistant (2) this 1575 calibre model correctly has no “quick-set” facility for changing the date at the end of a short month, so the wearer must turn the hands through 24 hours to advance or reverse the date and (3) while the bracelet is in exceptional condition, this “rivet” style never proved especially strong and we suggest that it is kept for dress wear only. Ask one of our Rolex-trained specialists, Phil or Paul, to discuss this watch with you.

  • Bicolour Rolex Date Submariner model 16613 with blue dial and bezel insert on Oyster Fliplock 93153 bracelet. This early 1990s model comes with later Rolex boxes, YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. It is in very pleasing condition, but we do note some signs of age / wear, both factors reflected in this keen price. Some of our watch team are rather excited about what they call the cardinal blue dial on this watch – it has mellowed with age and in some lights can display a pleasant, purplish hue. The NEW equivalent is now £13,750 !

  • A British Army helicopter pilot’s watch : vintage Rolex 1680 Submariner Date with Mark 2 dial, box & papers! Stainless steel Rolex Submariner Date model 1680 with 6152xxx case number, its original dial being in simply outstanding condition. First purchased by Captain “P” in Singapore during December 1980, this watch retains its original punched papers, plastic document wallet bearing a sticker with the watch’s faded case number on it, YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklet with 1980 print-code, Rolex 68.00.2 box with slotted card interior and “Création Genève” motif inside the lid, a Rolex UK service card dated June 2002 and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. In early 2014 the watch was taken to a Rolex main agent who knew to direct the watch to us, and Miltons (Liverpool) Ltd bought it in February 2014. It lived thereafter unworn in our safes until April 2023 when we sent it to Steven Hale Watch Restoration Limited, a fully accredited Rolex watch-maker and one of the UK’s leading vintage specialists. The watch enjoyed £1,536 worth of work including a full movement service and the fitting of new glass, auto-drive wheel, rotor axle, reversers and barrel, while the paint on the hands was also restored. The black bezel insert was replaced previously and has what we believe to be a Luminova variant “pip.” The Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet with 501 B end-links has a “PJ11″ clasp code, indicating that this, too, is a replacement part from Rolex, probably not fitted earlier than 2009. The watch has a Rolex 1575 calibre movement, the bridge marked 1570 as normal, its unique movement number D856389 shown in the photo-essay linked below. The movement is running well, testing within chronometer tolerance in September 2023, although this will vary slightly depending on the individual wearer. Its case, bracelet and crown are in very good condition but we have not refinished them, allowing them to keep the character reflecting the working life the watch has led, serving Captain P as a military pilot and then with his own helicopter charter company. The case numbering is crisp and clear, the bezel insert is excellent and the bezel rim is very good. A photo-essay of this watch with many more photographs is available by clicking here .

Please note that while we have successfully tested water resistance for normal use including recreational swimming etc, we would advise that more extensive pressure testing be carried out before any significant underwater diving is considered. Many collectors of such vintage Rolex where the dial is a key part of the value wisely choose NOT to swim in them, as a simple mistake in securing the crown or any subsequent and unrecognised deterioration in sealing could see water enter the case, damage the dial and destroy significant value. If you want to emulate Captain “P” and take it up in your helicopter, go for it !

Comes with Datejust booklet, international Rolex papers dated April 1993 and a later Rolex box set. The watch itself is largely in very good condition but we note moderate signs of age / wear to bracelet, reflected in the price. The nearest NEW equivalent is now £25,400 ! We would generally recommend that any gold Rolex of this age should be considered a dress watch, not intended for hard wear.

  • Bicolour Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust model 1601(3) from around 1973 with champagne / baton “pie-pan” dial *. This early style of Jubilee 6252H14 bracelet with folded metal links is correct (14 relating to the yellow metal content and suggesting it was first supplied to the USA). Inevitably, at around 50 years old it shows signs of age and wear (reflected in the price) and we recommend that this watch now be saved for dress wear. Originally this watch will have been fitted with the softer, acrylic glass but has more recently been fitted with a generic synthetic sapphire glass that is NOT by Rolex. Typically these are harder-wearing than the originals, although a vintage purist might wish to revert. Because of its age, we offer this watch with only a ONE year warranty and ask you to note : (1) we no longer guarantee these older models to be water-resistant (2) this 1575 calibre model correctly has no “quick-set” facility for changing the date at the end of a short month, so the wearer must turn the hands through 24 hours to advance or reverse the date and (3) the bracelet especially shows signs of age. Ask one of our Rolex-trained specialists, Phil or Paul, to discuss this watch with you. It is priced very reasonably to reflect all the above and comes with a generic presentation box, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them.

    * This name reflects the dial profile, its chapter ring edge dropping away from the main, central surface.

  • Available today, still in service stickers and fresh from Rolex overhaul ! 42mm Rolex Sky-Dweller model 326938 in 18ct yellow gold with gorgeous silvery “sun-dust” / Roman numeral dial on Oyster 72418 bracelet. As with the Daytona, it seems that a Rolex with complicated functions can prove exceptionally popular. This yellow gold model was launched only in 2012 but its brilliant condition suggests this one may be more recent. Comes with large Rolex boxes, Sky-Dweller booklet, red swing-tag and Rolex UK service card dated August 2023 when it had a full movement overhaul and new glass fitted at a cost of £1,268. Ask for our Rolex-trained specialists Phil or Paul to discuss this watch with you. • 29mm Rolex Datejust Pearlmaster / Masterpiece model 80329 in 18ct white gold with original, silver / diamond dot dial and Oyster II 72949 bracelet. Please note that this watch has been customised by a third party (not Rolex) : the original bezel with its strange, trapezoidal single diamond has been replaced with a full diamond bezel and glass that are NOT made by Rolex. As loyal devotees to the Rolex brand we are not great fans of customised pieces and will not supply such parts to customer request, but when our pawnbroking departments are left with one that is already fitted they are usually very popular! Rolex would not provide service support for such a watch, but luckily it contains one of the most common movements and parts / service are available from others. When we first sold this watch about fifteen years ago it still had its original accessories including UK papers from David Morris at Selfridges dated July 2003, but these were no longer with it when the watch was recently traded back in with us. • Vintage Submariner, FRESH FROM SPECIALIST ROLEX SERVICE by Steven Hale Watch Restoration Ltd. Stainless steel Rolex Submariner model 5513 manufactured around 1984 with 8673xxx case number. The watch features a “SWISS-T<25” tritium dial with white metal surrounds to the hour markers. These dials were introduced on new watches around the time this watch was made, but then also used as service replacement dials for any 5513s which needed them. Codes inside the case-back suggest that this watch was serviced by Rolex UK in Summer 1989 and early 1996. Miltons (Liverpool) Ltd bought the watch in January 2017 and in Summer 2023 sent it to Stephen Hale, a fully accredited Rolex watch-maker and one of the UK’s leading vintage specialists. The watch enjoyed £1,500 worth of work including a full service and the fitting of new tube gaskets, plexi glass, 4th wheel, auto-drive, rotor axle and black bezel insert (with what we believe to be a Luminova variant “pip”), while the luminous material on the hands was also restored. The Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet with 580 end-links has an “S X11” clasp code, suggesting that is a replacement service part that was fitted around the millennium. The rest of the bracelet shows some signs of age and wear, but this generation of Oysters was substantial and it has many years of reasonable wear left. It has a Rolex 1520 calibre movement which is running very well after service, although it will vary slightly depending on the individual wearer. Its new glass and bezel insert are of course in perfect condition having just been replaced. The case, crown and bezel rim are in very good condition, while the case numbering is crisp and clear. Comes with period-correct Rolex 67.00.08 box-set and 1987 English Submariner instruction booklet (themselves being accessories of some value!), our own warranty card, a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them and a copy of the invoice from SHWR listing all work carried out. A photo-essay of this watch with many more photographs is available by clicking here.

Please note that while the watch has just been restored to Rolex standards and we have ourselves successfully tested water resistance for normal use including recreational swimming etc, our default position with such vintage pieces is to advise that more extensive pressure testing be carried out before any significant underwater diving is considered. Many collectors of such vintage Rolex where the dial is a key part of the value wisely choose NOT to swim in them, as a simple mistake in securing the crown or any subsequent and unrecognised deterioration in sealing could see water enter the case, damage the dial and destroy significant value.

  • Most impressive gold Daytona! Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model 116505 in 18ct rose gold with “chocolate” (brown) / applied Arabic numeral dial on Oysterlock 78595 bracelet. Comes with large Rolex boxes, Cosmograph Daytona booklet and red swing-tag. It also has its international Rolex warranty card from Belgium, although we believe the hand-written date of sale to have been altered. From the watch’s random case number and the style of warranty card, we believe that this watch will actually have been supplied between 2010 and 2014. It is in excellent condition with immaculate bracelet and negligible wear to the glass / bezel. The NEW equivalent is now £35,800 but lack of availability continues to support strong residual prices.

  • The epitome of “stealth wealth” : 18ct white gold Daytona, in excellent condition after spending much of its short life in a safe! 18ct white gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model 116519LN with smart “steel / bright black” / index baton dial, black Oysterflex strap and ceramic bezel. Both black rubber sections of the strap are NEW, supplied in 2023 by a Rolex main agent. These models are just as likely  to be worn by gents or ladies now. Has large, original boxes, Cosmograph Daytona booklet, green swing-tag and UK warranty card from The Watches of Switzerland Group (Goldsmiths etc) dated August 2019. The NEW equivalent is now £27,050 but availability of many similar specification Daytonas remains poor, so we are selling it at a small premium (but less than many other dealers). The strap will fit a man’s average wrist and offers a small amount of adjustment, but if a different length is required we will order one on an exchange basis. We would anticipate doing this at no additional cost, but there may be some weeks’ wait for such a strap to arrive from Rolex. Additional pictures may be viewed by clicking through the main image.

Rolex with fancy-coloured dials have been extremely popular in recent years. In outstanding condition, it comes with both boxes, Oyster Perpetual booklet, green swing-tag and international Rolex warranty card dated September 2020. The NEW equivalent is now £5,300 but it is no longer available with this desirable and distinctive dial. Supply is still not meeting demand at the moment and many stainless steel Rolex are attracting a premium, as here.

  • Collectible, “full set” 1989 Submariner ! In production for just over twenty years, this is one of the earliest examples of the stainless steel Rolex Date Submariner model 16610 with black bezel insert and tritium dial on 93150 bracelet. It comes with original 16610 box set (ref 68.00.2 with cushion & wrap / cardboard outer and in exceptional condition), both ROLEX SUBMARINER and YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklets *, both red COSC chronometer swing-tag and the numbered green “OYSTER SWIMPRUF” swing-tag, UK papers from Lepps in Warrington dated August 1989 in black document holder with translation leaflet, Rolex 1989-1990 calendar card and even the novelty “silver string” Rolex 1.000 / 300 anchor charm – accessories which on their own are worth several hundred pounds but when still accompanying the unique watch with which they were supplied add so much more ! The bracelet is in excellent condition, has correct 501 B end links and an “M11” clasp code suggesting manufacture of that part in November 1988. The watch head with L249xxx case number is in very good condition with thick lugs and only minor signs of wear to glass and bezel insert. The “SWISS – T < 25” dial is original and like many from this era it is a “spider” dial — that is to say, its gloss black surface has over time “crazed” with a fine pattern that is often hard to see with the naked eye, usually stable and resembles threads of a spider’s silk under magnification. A macro (close-up) image to illustrate this may be viewed by clicking through the main picture. It correctly has a 16610 case-back marked inside with the first four characters of the case number and a 3135 calibre Rolex movement bearing unique number 5223450. It still has the original green factory sticker, albeit quite worn, on the case-back! The larger, NEW equivalent Submariner is now £9,000 (if you can find one….) but the earlier models have proved increasingly popular in their own right and a “full set” like this is increasingly rare on the market.

    * The Submariner booklet is a particularly desirable version. It has the print code “594.52 Eng – 7 – 9.1988” which indicates that it was intended for the English market and printed in September 1988. Importantly, it includes pictures / instructions for two very desirable models, the non-date Submariner 5513 and the Sea-Dweller 16660.

The watch itself is largely in very good condition but we note moderate signs of age / wear to bracelet and some discolouration to parts of the dial, reflected in the price. Has Rolex boxes, Milgauss booklet, red swing-tag and and UK warranty card from John D. Eaton Ltd in Derby dated October 2014. The highly anti-magnetic Milgauss models were re-introduced into the Rolex range over 15 years ago but this last version with its striking green glass / blue dial was especially popular. When it last appeared in UK price lists the NEW RRP was £7,850, but like many of the more unusual steel Professional models, it was always a very hard watch to source at main agents. Interest has only increased now production seems to have stopped. Priced reasonably to reflect superficial wear to the edge of the glass.

  • Vintage Rolex GMT-Master with original Mark 5B dial *, so-called PEPSI bezel and in outstanding condition, still in Rolex UK service stickers! Stainless steel Rolex GMT-Master model 1675 from around 1978 with 557xxxx case number. It was most recently serviced by Rolex UK in February 2017 and was then bought by S.S.Milton Ltd in Chester later that year. Still in its striped service stickers, it has lived thereafter unworn in our safes. Extensive service history may be viewed in our photo-essay (see link below). The Oyster 78360 bracelet with 580 end-links has an “O1” clasp code, suggesting that is an early 1990 replacement part. It has a Rolex 1575 calibre movement, the bridge marked 1570 as normal, its unique movement number D724674 shown in the photo-essay linked below. The movement is running well, testing close to spot on for time-keeping in July 2023, although this will vary slightly depending on the individual wearer. Its case, crown and glass are in excellent condition, the case numbering is crisp and clear, the bezel insert is excellent and the bezel rim is very good, if evenly worn. The bracelet shows some signs of age and wear, but this generation of Oysters was substantial and it has many years of reasonable wear left. The watch appears to have had little wear following the 2017 service by Rolex UK and since we bought it in September 2017 has simply sat in one of the Miltons’ safes! Comes with its original “sea-horse” Rolex box set (ref 10 001) with “50 YEARS OF THE ROLEX OYSTER” plaque, GMT-Master “clouds” booklet (itself rare and worth hundreds of pounds!), Rolex service slips from 2009 and 2017, further service paperwork from the Rolex main agent, Goldsmiths and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. A photo-essay of this watch with many more photographs is available by clicking here.  Look at that beautiful, original dial with matching hands! Many more macro images may be viewed by clicking that link. If you want to fly your ‘plane in it of course, go right ahead !

  • Desirable model in beautiful condition ! 42mm stainless steel and white metal Rolex Sky-Dweller model 326934 with black / index baton dial on Oyster 72220 bracelet. As with the Rolex Daytona, it seems that a steel Rolex with complicated functions can prove exceptionally popular. Comes with Rolex boxes, Sky-Dweller booklet, green COSC swing-tag, five-year warranty translation booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. It has also just had a new glass fitted by Rolex UK. Most other examples on the market at the time of writing have their original warranty card and are priced well above the NEW equivalent which is £13,650 (and clearly if you could obtain one for that price then you should). Our keen price reflects the fact that this watch lacks its original warranty card, but it remains one of the most desirable models, in superb condition and — crucially — is available today.

  • Stainless steel Daytona with box and 2014 warranty card, a former insurance write-off now revived with parts from another steel Daytona and priced to reflect its compromised status. Stainless steel Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model 116520, case number 1J9715U9 with black dial on Oysterlock 78490 bracelet. Has Rolex boxes, Cosmograph Daytona booklet, red swing-tag and international Rolex warranty card dated July 2014 when it appears to have been sold in Japan (possibly by the Rolex main agent Tompkins). This random case number watch is now in very attractive condition but its history and status needs to be documented clearly. We bought it in May 2018 from insurers in an unsaleable state. It had no bracelet, a fake black ceramic bezel and a skeletonised dial with broken balance assembly in its correct Rolex 4130 calibre movement. Insurers had asked Rolex UK to restore it but in January 2018 the latter rejected it because of the modifications. Rolex often “black-ball” such a watch and will not then service it again, although independent watch-makers can. We bought it as it was, in the hope of one day restoring it or using the parts. Then in June 2023 we bought another Rolex Daytona 116520 (circa 2005) from a regional UK police force. This second watch was also unsaleable in its own right because its mid-case had been re-numbered ( to F981806 ), but we realised that it could be the donor of other parts for the first watch. We then fitted the correct Rolex steel bezel and black dial from the second Daytona onto the first, with the Oysterlock 78490 bracelet and complete balance assembly (non-Parachrom). It should be noted that the 2014 watch we are selling would have had a 78590 bracelet rather than the almost identical 78490 from the 2005 watch that has been fitted, similarly it would have had a Parachrom balance rather than the non-Parachrom from the earlier watch, while the glass fitted is generic, not by Rolex. The latest ceramic bezel model now has a NEW RRP of £12,700 but like its predecessors will be almost impossible to get from main agents and found on the secondary market offered with a large premium. The earlier 116520 is an enduringly popular choice and remains in its own right one of the most sought after models. If you have any questions about this watch, please ask to speak with one of Miltons Watch Team, including two former managers of Rolex main agents. For interest only, an image of the watch that we are selling shown next to the “left-over” parts assembled in a second, monstrous watch that we won't be retailing may be viewed by clicking through the main picture. A tabular record of the parts used from the two source watches should also then be visible.

  • One of the most wearable vintage Sea-Dwellers available! Stainless steel Rolex Sea-Dweller 1665 from around 1975 with 408xxxx case number and straight “ROLEX” text across the case-back. Yes, those in the know will realise that the case number and case-back style prove that this watch was originally an even more highly desirable “Double Red” Sea-Dweller, but in 2004 it was serviced by Rolex UK who fitted this new “Great White” service replacement dial with Luminova markers. They also appear to have fitted a new Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet with 585 end-links (its “S  DT4” clasp code identifying it as a service part, manufactured in April 2002). The main 1665 case and 1665 case-back both show the same, matching 408xxxx case number in full. It has a Rolex 1575 calibre movement, the bridge marked 1570 as normal, and its unique movement number D952xxx is shown in the photo-essay linked below. The movement is running well, testing on average to be + 4 seconds per day in July 2023, although this will vary slightly depending on the individual wearer. Its case, bracelet, crown and glass are in excellent condition, the case numbering is crisp and clear, the bezel insert is is excellent and the bezel rim is very good – we note a small bump on its inner rim, near the 3 minute marker. The watch appears to have had little wear after the 2004 service by Rolex and since April 2016 has simply sat in one of the Miltons’ safes! Offered with a period-correct Rolex box (ref 67.00.03), our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. It is interesting to note that the case numbers of this batch of 1665s appear to sit adjacent to a batch of rare Submariner 5514s made for the French diving company COMEX. A photo-essay of this watch with many more photographs is available by clicking here.  While we might have preferred that it retained its original and much more valuable dial, this watch in its refurbished form and with the extremely good bracelet offers much of the charm of a vintage Sea-Dweller combined with the smart look and wearable nature of a later model. Please note that while we have successfully tested water resistance for normal use including recreational swimming etc, we would advise that more extensive pressure testing be carried out before any significant underwater diving is considered.

Our extensive research and record-keeping over many years leads us to conclude that Sea-Dweller 1665s featured the word “ROLEX” written straight across the case back on all watches with case numbers below c. 520xxxx, after which “ROLEX” was written in a conspicuously curved style. That same research allows us to determine that Double Red dials were fitted in Sea-Dweller 1665s until at least the high 529xxxx range of case numbers, after which they fitted dials with text all in white. More is written about this in our photo-essay, available through the link above.

  • We’re all “wowed” by the dial on this rose gold Daytona – and it’s in fantastic condition, with delivery sticker still on case-back, after spending much of its short life in a safe! 18ct “Everose” gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model 116515LN with stunning “sundust” / index baton dial, black Oysterflex strap and ceramic bezel. These models are just as likely  to be worn by gents or ladies now. Has large, original boxes, Cosmograph Daytona booklet, green swing-tag and international Rolex warranty card dated September 2021.  The NEW equivalent is now £27,050 but availability of any similar specification Daytona remains poor, so we are selling it at a small premium (but less than many other dealers).

We cannot accept cash for items of such high value. Please ask for one of our watch specialists if you would like to view the watch in our private / secure sales facility or to enquire about acceptable payment methods.

  • Outstanding condition – appears barely to have been worn! 36mm stainless steel Rolex Datejust model 116200 on Oyster 72600A bracelet with bright white / index baton dial and roulette date wheel. In superb condition, it comes with Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet, green swing-tag and UK warranty card from Laings the Jeweller dated October 2019. The NEW equivalent is now £6,300 but supply remains weak and residual prices reflect that. Please ask one of our team to demonstrate the fold-out “comfort-link” on this model’s bracelet.

  • Magnificent, all-original gold and diamond Rolex! 34mm Rolex Datejust model 81338 on original “chevron” diamond-set 74858 bracelet with double-diamond bezel and full pavé diamond / black enamel roman numeral dial. This stunning piece is in brilliant condition (well, it’s probably not a watch for every day wear!) and it even has the case-back sticker still in place. Comes with HUGE Rolex presentation / jewellery box set, Datejust booklet, red chronometer swing-tag and original UK papers dated August 2006. From our archived records we have found this exact specification offered in the Rolex UK October 2008 price list (shortly before it appears to have been discontinued) at £45,510 …but prices for new watches have risen enormously since then. Further images may be viewed by clicking through the main picture. Please note that this style of bracelet correctly has plain gold links (without diamonds) on the clasp side, where any diamond setting would be more exposed to wear and damage.

  • Bought from a large, private collection, this “safe-queen” from 2001 looks like it has just come from the shop! Stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King Precision model 14010M with popular blue / 3-6-9 dial on Oyster 78350 bracelet. It comes with Rolex boxes, Your Rolex Oyster booklet and blank, undated UK papers from Fraser Hart. The previous owner had around twenty mint Rolex watches, many of them never worn, and this one is another stunner, having even its original sticker still on the case-back! A NEW Air-King now costs £6,250 if you can find one, but realistically a closer new equivalent may be the plain Oyster Perpetual 34 model 124200 at £4,850….and neither watch is readily available at the time of writing.

  • 26mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 69173 with unusual white / diamond dot dial with small roman numerals, on Jubilee 62523 bracelet. This 1987 model comes with Rolex 69173 boxes, Your Rolex Oyster booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. The nearest NEW equivalent is now £10,950! This watch is priced very reasonably to reflect a number of factors : (1) the fluted bezel and bracelet both show signs of wear, such that we now recommend this watch be kept for dress wear only, (2) under magnification, it can be seen that the dial paint is deteriorating and (3) the case and model numbers are both substantially worn *

    * Ladies’ Rolex Datejusts of this generation are often now found with one or more of the numerals in the case number obscured by bracelet wear. This was caused by the end-links rubbing constantly against the case. In this instance the third and fifth digits of the unique case number are obscured by bracelet wear, but luckily we were able to confirm the correct case number of the watch from its service history through a Rolex main agent and Rolex UK.

  • 36mm stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust model 1603 from the late 1970s with silver / baton “pie-pan” dial and Jubilee 62510 bracelet. It has been fitted with a synthetic sapphire glass that is not by Rolex, to update the older and more easily marked acrylic glass. We don't as a rule approve of such work, but this appears to have been very well executed, it modernises the watch and tests well for water-resistance. Because of its age, we offer it with only a ONE year warranty and ask you to note : (1) this model correctly has no “quick-set” facility for changing the date at the end of a short month, so the wearer must turn the hands through 24 hours to advance the date and (2) the bracelet shows some signs of age and wear. It is priced very reasonably to reflect the above. Comes with our own presentation box & warranty card, and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. With a similar, NEW 36mm Datejust today costing £6,650 it is easy to see why such vintage models appear increasingly attractive. Please ask one of our Rolex-trained specialists, Phil or Paul, to discuss this watch with you.
