It had a new glass fitted by Rolex UK in June 2023. Most other examples on the market at the time of writing have their original warranty card and are priced closer to or well above the NEW equivalent, which is now £13,850. Availability remains limited and clearly if you could obtain a new model for that price then you should. Our keen price reflects the fact that this watch lacks its original warranty card, but it remains one of the most desirable models, in superb condition and — crucially — is available today.

£6,799 Stock number: 52-81-032Stainless steel “polar” Rolex Explorer II model 16570 with white “SWISS-T<25” dial on Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet. It shows signs of only moderate wear for its age and comes with Rolex boxes, Explorer booklet and UK papers from Goldsmiths dated August 1997. While most associate the Fliplock 93150 bracelet with Submariner models, it was an option on the 16570 for many years, although we note that the clasp on this one has separately been replaced at some point. The latest, fat-case Explorer II now has a new RRP of £8,500 but all the earlier generations of professional models like this attract great interest in their own right.

£13,999 Stock number: 80-74-002Classic Rolex Day-Date with what is now a popular “retro” look ! 36mm Rolex Day-Date model 18078 in 18ct yellow gold with sparkling champagne / diamond dot dial on President 8723 bracelet (concealed clasp version). This 1986 model with original BARK finish to bezel and bracelet is in very pleasing condition. It shows surprisingly little sign of wear to the bracelet, just a small bump on the underside of a link near the 12 o’clock end, where it cannot be seen once on the wrist, and we note that a generic glass (not by Rolex) has been fitted. Nicknamed the “Bruiser” or “Batman” GMT by fans because of its distinctive bezel colours, this watch remains in excellent condition. It comes with both Rolex boxes, GMT-Master II booklet and international Rolex warranty card dated October 2017. This model itself was released in 2013 but its exceptional popularity and limited supply mean that it attracts a small premium over the £9,350 price of the NEW equivalent (supply of which is similarly weak).

This is a fine-looking watch but there are signs of general wear, especially in the bracelet, which are fully reflected in this keen price. The new equivalent is now £10,500 !

£7,499 Stock number: 50-79-063Colourful variant, no longer offered by Rolex ! 40mm stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Milgauss model 116400GV on Oyster 72400 bracelet with black / index dial, orange “lightning bolt” seconds hand / quarter markers and green-tinted synthetic sapphire glass. Has Rolex boxes, Milgauss booklet, red swing-tag and international Rolex warranty card dated September 2009. In excellent condition, although we do note very minor, superficial wear to the glass. The highly anti-magnetic Milgauss models were re-introduced into the Rolex range over 15 years ago but this last version with its striking green glass was especially popular. When it last appeared in UK price lists the NEW RRP was £7,850, but like many of the more unusual steel Professional models, it was usually a very hard watch to source at main agents. Interest has only increased now production seems to have stopped.

It is not clear whether these papers are dated April 1982 or April 1984. This is an outstanding “entry-level” Oyster Perpetual but please note that we no longer guarantee these older, plastic glass models to be water-resistant. In excellent condition, it now comes with Rolex box, Datejust booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. This recent addition to the Yachtmaster range was launched in 2019 has proved especially popular ! In excellent condition, it comes with Rolex boxes, Yachtmaster booklet, green swing-tag, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. The NEW RRP is now £26,300 but this is one of many sports / professional models that has been hard to obtain in the UK and residual prices remain strong. The strap will fit a man’s average wrist and offers a small amount of adjustment at the clasp, but if a different length is required and we don’t have one to swap, then we may have to order one on an exchange basis. We would anticipate doing this at no additional cost, but there may be some weeks’ wait for such a strap to arrive from Rolex.
