£2,699 Stock number: 52-51-04426mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual DATE in stainless steel and white metal, model 6917(4) on Jubilee 62510 bracelet. Its original “DATE” dial has been replaced at some point by a genuine (but incorrect for this watch) black / baton DATEJUST SCOC dial that was intended for a later model. This circa 1980 model correctly bears a Rolex 2035 calibre movement and as such does not have the “quick-set” feature, which would allow easier correction of the date at the end of a short month. Unusually, it has been fitted with a synthetic sapphire glass that is not by Rolex, to update the older and more easily marked acrylic glass. We don't as a rule approve of such work, but this appears to have been very well executed, it modernises the watch and tests well for water-resistance. It comes with a Rolex box (the cushion inside is a generic replacement), original vintage YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. The NEW equivalent is now £6,400!

Stainless steel and white metal Rolex Datejust 36, model 126234 on Oyster 72800 / articulated clasp bracelet with recently-introduced purple “aubergine” / roman numeral dial with diamond detail at VI and IX. Such colourful and modern dials have been extremely desirable in recent times. This is the latest 36mm model with both boxes, Datejust booklet, green swing-tag and Rolex warranty card dated September 2021. Shows moderate signs of age and general wear, but most noticeable is the hybrid steel / resin strap which is dull and slightly grey from wear, despite cleaning. Our keen price reflects the condition (and in case you are wondering, a replacement strap is surprisingly expensive). As a chronograph with simple push-pieces (the stopwatch buttons), we recommend that it should not be considered water-resistant.

This model was made for a short period in the 1980s, introducing the quick-set date change facility but preceding the introduction of synthetic sapphire glass. Comes with a period-correct Rolex 16753-stickered box set, UK papers dated September 1987 in plastic pouch (with corresponding, numbered sticker) and two Rolex UK service slips from 1997 and 1999. The watch is in very pleasing condition but with some signs of age / wear, including to the glass and bracelet. The nearest NEW equivalent is now £12,200 but this piece’s vintage appeal, accompanying accessories and lack of availability give it a market of its own. £9,299 Stock number: 52-51-046Outstanding example! Stainless steel Rolex Date Submariner model 16610 T with black bezel insert and “SWISS MADE” dial on Oyster Fliplock 93250 bracelet. This Z87xxxx case number watch from around 2007 is in exceptional condition. It has spent much of its life in storage and indeed we know its history from when we first bought it, unworn in delivery stickers, twelve years ago (see narrative below). It comes with Rolex boxes, correct Submariner booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. Demand for such models in the steel Professional range may never have been greater. We are thus selling it at a premium to the NEW equivalent model’s RRP which is now £8,050 – if only you could find one!
This watch has something of an interesting history. In December 2010, Miltons spent £168,000 in a single day buying some 60 unworn, stickered Rolex watches including Sea Dwellers 16600s, stainless steel Date Submariner 16610s, Yachtmaster 16622s, Explorers 14270 / 114270 / 16570 and others. Oddly, all the watches lacked bracelets. A photograph of the watches that we won and the cover of the original auction catalogue may be viewed if you click through the main image. The story was that HMRC had intercepted these watches being smuggled into the UK in parts. Customs had seized the watch-heads and ultimately auctioned them off in a single sale to an audience of international dealers and private buyers in London. Miltons were the largest buyer by far and took home over a third of the entire sale. With the blessing of Rolex UK we were then able to purchase all the new, genuine bracelets required to make the watches complete…but for an additional £40,000+ !

Stainless steel Rolex Date Submariner model 16610 T / LV with Mark V maxi dial and green “slim 4” / “thin 4” bezel insert on Oyster Fliplock 93250 bracelet. It comes with both boxes, Submariner booklet, numbered green swing-tag and UK warranty card from Pykes in Birkenhead dated May 2010 — both the latter explicitly confirming that it is an original 16610LV. This is a V6xxxxx case-number watch and correctly it has a numbered inner rehaut. It is in very pleasing condition although there are signs of moderate wear to the bracelet and some superficial marks to the bezel insert. There is a fatter, new equivalent model made by Rolex, though usually not available without a huge premium now. The older models have been increasingly sought after since they were discontinued some years ago. Dials with text printed in pale ink such as this are sometimes referred to as “ghost” dials, and this one is particularly attractive because the diamonds in their white metal settings stand out prominently against the darker background. In very good condition, the watch comes with Datejust booklet, international Rolex papers dated July 1989 and Rolex UK service slips dated February 2005 and November 2015. It comes in a large, embroidered Rolex presentation box, but we note that the cushion inside is a generic replacement. The nearest NEW equivalent is now £22,600! We would generally recommend that any gold Rolex of this age should be considered a dress watch, not intended for hard wear.

Each is approx 12cm x 6.5cm when closed and is suitable for holding a single example of most models in the Rolex range. For a number of years these green pouches were provided by the service division of Rolex UK when they returned a watch to its owner. Many owners now use them as smart travel or storage pouches. They are pre-owned, but many have simply been in our stores since they came with a watch from Rolex. £9,399 Stock number: 52-43-003Stainless steel Rolex GMT-Master II model 16760 on Oyster 78360 bracelet with black “SWISS-T<25” dial and red / black bezel insert. This is the short-lived transitional model (crudely named the “fat lady” by collectors) with 3085 calibre movement, its R36xxxx case number suggesting it is from 1987. Showing slight signs of its age (including some bumps to the bezel rim) but still a very attractive piece, coming with period Rolex boxes, a GMT-Master booklet from 1989, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. It appears from the date code in the bracelet clasp that this part has been replaced at a later date. The current, much fatter new equivalent model is now £8,400 but these earlier models have proved increasingly desirable in their own right.

£2,699 Stock number: 52-33-004Lady’s bicolour Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date model 6917 (3) on Jubilee 62523 bracelet with white / small roman numeral dial. Comes with its original boxes, numbered green swing-tag, hand-written Rolex papers from Kuwait dated June 1983 and our own warranty card. Unusually, it has been fitted with a synthetic sapphire glass that is not by Rolex, to update the older and more easily marked acrylic glass. We don’t as a rule approve of such work, but this appears to have been very well executed, it modernises the watch and tests well for water-resistance. The watch shows some signs of its age, most notably to the bracelet, but for a buyer who will wear it sensibly offers great value – especially with its boxes and papers. Please note: this early 1980s watch comes correctly with the Rolex 203x calibre movement and as such does not have the “quick-set” feature, which would allow easier correction of the date at the end of a short month; instead one must simply advance or reverse the hands 24 hours to change the date.

Gent’s 18ct yellow gold and diamond Rolex Cellini mechanical (i.e. requiring daily manual winding) dress watch model 4630/8 on integral fine Milanese / ribbon-style bracelet with impressive diamond bezel and 1601 calibre Rolex movement. This watch is in exceptional condition, coming with original Cellini box-set (the cardboard outer carton is very tatty and with signs of some repair, but the main box is splendid), Cellini booklet, hand-written Rolex papers from David M. Robinson dated 20th May 1988 in original green plastic wallet and a valuation from DMR dated just days later. This slim, wind-up watch (not an Oyster model) was intended for dress wear and is not water-proof. We certainly wouldn’t recommend it for everyday wear. It now seems to epitomise the flamboyant style of the 1980s, but further value here lies also in its accessories and the exceptional condition. The bracelet length remains that for a large wrist. While it has three positions for minor adjustment within the double-leaf clasp, we will NOT otherwise adjust the size of the bracelet. This watch could be considered by a collector or someone with a suitably large wrist who might treasure and wear it for a few very special occasions every year. The dial (no longer offered in any model) is very distinctive, both for its concentric centre and the polished metal “6” at the bottom which mirrors the Rolex coronet at the top. In excellent condition, it comes with Rolex boxes, Oyster Perpetual booklet and UK warranty card from jewellers John D Eaton in Derby dated January 2011. A NEW Air-King now costs £5,150 but in truth a closer new equivalent may be the plain Oyster Perpetual 34 model 124200 at £4,200. However, supply is not meeting demand at the moment and many stainless steel Rolex are attracting a premium.

In very pleasing condition but there are some signs of age / wear to the bracelet (whose clasp-code suggests it is somewhat older than the watch head). This is reflected in the price. In very pleasing condition with just moderate signs of age / wear to the bracelet and signs of age to the dial that may be seen only under magnification. This mid-1990s model comes with Rolex boxes, Oyster booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. Rolex does not currently offer a NEW equivalent with such an MoP dial, but from the component parts we can determine that if they did it would now be around £9,000 !

£39 Stock number: Misc. PT 114864Gent’s genuine Rolex wallet in green leather with reference 0068.08.34 printed in discrete gold-coloured foil inside one of the pockets. This is a slim, folding wallet of approx 144mm x 105mm when closed. Has reinforced corners and Rolex coronet branding to front. These wallets were supplied with gents’ and professional / sports models around the millennium. English bank notes did not fit them at the time and so many were never used, but the latest generation of £5 and £10 notes and credit cards do now fit as illustrated. It is not suitable for coins, or £20 / £50 notes. We have a small stock of these wallets available at both our Chester and Liverpool (St. John’s) stores. 35mm / mid-size bicolour Rolex Yachtmaster model 168623 with white dial on Oysterlock 78753 bracelet. In excellent condition, it comes with 168623 boxes, Yachtmaster booklet and UK papers from Mappin & Webb in Glasgow dated April 2000. The NEW RRP was £8,400 when this model last appeared in Rolex price lists some years ago, while the nearest new equivalent today is a steel and rose metal 37mm version at £10,500!
