The dial is an attractive, glossy cream “Jubilee” design with applied roman numerals. In very nice condition with original Cellini 6111/8 box-set, Cellini booklet, numbered green swing-tag and UK papers from Fraser Hart dated February 2004. The strap shows some signs of wear, but it has plenty of life in it yet and as genuine Rolex ones like this are so expensive we think it fully deserves to stay with the watch a while longer. £2,299 Stock number: 12-30-010Stainless steel and white metal Datejust “Turn-o-Graph” model 16264 from approx 1996, on Oyster 78360 bracelet with blue / roman numeral dial (which correctly for its age does not show the actual word “Turn-o-Graph” as the latest versions do). Comes with a Rolex box-set, an Oyster booklet, red swing-tag and our own warranty card. We note that in December 2009 the watch was sold secondhand by The Old Watch Shop in Southport. At some point in its life someone has fitted this bracelet which is slightly younger than the watch, but with “280” end-links from another bracelet, such as a 9315 Oyster Fliplock, though this makes no practical difference in wear. The glass and bezel show some slight signs of general wear, but this watch offers excellent value when you consider that the cheapest new steel Datejust for men is now £4,450!

Originally this watch was fitted with a bicolour Jubilee bracelet, but at some point that has worn out and been replaced by a stainless steel Rolex Oyster 78240 bracelet. We have seen this perhaps a dozen times over the years, where an owner has not wished to pay the high cost of a new bicolour bracelet and has thus had a much less expensive steel version fitted. In July 2017 this watch enjoyed over £1,000 worth of service work at Rolex UK through their main agent, Goldsmiths. We note that the dial appears to be a recent service dial and the bracelet, too, appears to have been replaced in the late 1990s. Because of its age, we ask you to note: (1) we no longer guarantee these older, plastic glass models to be water-resistant (2) this model correctly has no “quick-set” facility for changing the date at the end of a short month, so the wearer must turn the hands through 24 hours to advance the date (3) while running well, there is slightly more noise from the movement rotor than you might expect from a modern watch. This 1520 calibre model was common in stainless steel, but a small number were made in gold. We ask you to note that : (1) the dial and hands show some signs of age / wear / marks (2) we no longer guarantee these older, plastic glass models to be water-resistant (3) the gold case has typically worn with age and there are signs of repair / rebuilding to some lug-ends, where the gold is a slightly different colour and (4) the ostrich leather strap and and base-metal pin-buckle are both generic parts, NOT made by Rolex. The watch is priced very reasonably to reflect these points. It comes with a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them, our own presentation box and warranty card.

£2,299 Stock number: 52-27-00418ct yellow gold Rolex Cellini model 4112/8 from the late 1990s with bright white / applied roman numeral dial. In beautiful condition with genuine Cellini 4112/8 boxes, a Rolex booklet about Benvenuto Cellini (in whose honour their dress watches are named), our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. This is a non-automatic, mechanical model whose 1602 calibre movement correctly requires manual winding daily. It cannot be expected to be as accurate as a quartz or self-winding model. As a slim dress watch, it is not water-proof. While the strap bears the original, hallmarked 18ct buckle by Rolex, the leather part is a generic replacement, not from Rolex. This is a very stylish and slim Rolex dress watch, contrasting with the chunky looks of the more common Oyster range.

This beautiful watch with ETA-based movement was the subject of an insurance claim and has spent much of its short life in various safes. It comes with no original accessories, but our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. There are very few signs of wear, just a few small marks around the bezel rim. Contrary to the widely-held belief of a million wine-bar experts, for over twenty years Rolex DID make a quartz watch whose second hand TICKS rather than sweeps, as one might otherwise rightly expect of their mechanical models. These Oysterquartz models are quite rare and their chunky looks are not to everyone's taste, but this one is in very nice condition with an old Rolex box-set and our own warranty card. We like to warn prospective buyers just how LOUD the ticking sound always is on the Rolex 5035 quartz module. If you enjoy stalking lions, work for the Special Forces or are plagued by fears that a ticking bomb might be under your living room chair, this may not be the model for you.
