Rare 168000 model, with boxes and UK papers* ! Stainless steel Rolex Submariner Date model 168000 from the late 1980s with black dial and bezel insert on Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet. This is a rare piece, the “triple-0” reference being made for only a very short time. It has the later “SWISS MADE” dial with white metal surrounds to the indices, almost certainly fitted during Rolex UK service in 2005. The original dials often cracked or “spidered” and so have commonly been replaced. As a very nice example of an interesting watch about whose future value many will speculate, it comes with both boxes (16800 sticker), papers as detailed below and the Oyster booklet. The main case and bezel are in extremely pleasing condition, the bracelet even better – it has an “L11” date-code in the clasp, suggesting manufacture in late 1987. The new equivalent is now £6,250 but a watch like this has a market of its own.
