This 1986 model with the 3035 calibre movement is in surprisingly nice condition for its age and still retains its inner box, Datejust booklet and numbered, plastic document pouch containing our own warranty card. Unusually, this watch has been fitted with a synthetic sapphire glass that is not by Rolex, to update the older and more easily marked acrylic glass. We don't as a rule approve of such work, but this appears to have been very well executed, it modernises the watch and tests well for water-resistancy.

The more practical size of this model, the lack of a sometimes-annoying cyclops magnifying lens as found on the Date Submariners and the full, 60-minute marked bezel (a nod to Rolex’s military past) were instant hits.
