£8,999 Stock number: 52-67-017Still in stickers from Rolex UK Service! 36mm Rolex Datejust model 16238 in 18ct yellow gold with silver / diamond dot dial dial on a Rolex strap. This circa 1990 model comes with brown “luggage” style Rolex box, Datejust booklet, a scanned extract of Rolex UK service paperwork and their service guarantee card dated March 2021. At that time the watch enjoyed £1,192 worth of work including a full movement overhaul, new glass, spring-bars, crown, alligator strap and gold-plated Rolex pin-buckle! It was 2011 when a NEW equivalent 36mm gold Datejust on a strap was last offered in the UK and with a diamond dot dial this would have cost £13,630 then. Prices generally have risen very considerably in the 12 following years ! This watch is in excellent condition and we believe it has been barely out of the box since the 2021 service. Under close examination we can see some signs of superficial, historic grazing to the bezel and that the model number has worn off, but the crucial, unique case number is very clear and this corresponds with Rolex’s records, confirming it to be a 16238. £15,999 Stock number: 62-53-002Collectible “STICK dial / Pepsi” GMT-Master II, first sold new in 2006 by one of our own Watch Team, when he was the manager at a Rolex main agent! Stainless steel Rolex GMT-Master II model 16710 T with black “SWISS MADE” dial, perfect blue / red bezel insert and Oysterlock 78790A bracelet. This superb D907xxx case-number watch with 3185 calibre movement is from the last few years of production and comes with Rolex boxes, GMT-Master booklet, both swing-tags and UK papers from Pyke & Sons in Birkenhead dated July 2006. The green swing-tag denotes that it is a 16710BLRO, which means it had a red and blue bezel from new when it left the Rolex factory. In excellent condition – it still even has the aged delivery sticker on its case-back! Please note that it has the desirable “stick” dial, where the number “II” after GMT-Master is denoted by two straight lines rather than a serif-ed or roman style of numeral. A close-up of that detail may be viewed by clicking through the main picture. The “stick” dials have been a cause of much speculation, but we have been able conclusively to dismiss the connection between such dials and the presence of 3185 / 3186 calibres respectively. The fatter, NEW equivalent GMT-Master is now £8,400 (if only you could buy one at RRP!) but this earlier, less bulky and arguably more interesting model has an army of followers who have chased prices ever higher since it was discontinued. In very nice condition with original Cellini boxes, Cellini booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. When we bought it, this 1990s watch had UK papers from Boodles dated 1997…..but that certificate was not the one that should have accompanied this watch and had been put with it in error, most likely when first sold. This is a slim, quartz strap watch, not an Oyster model, therefore intended for dress wear and not water-proof. While the strap bears the original, hallmarked 18ct buckle by Rolex, the leather part itself is a generic replacement, not from Rolex. There is also a small chip in the edge of the glass — all factors reflected in the price. The NEW equivalent was last listed with an RRP of £3,600! In stunning condition having barely been worn, the watch comes with Rolex boxes, correct Submariner and Your Oyster booklets, UK papers from David M. Robinson in Southport dated October 2003, both swing-tags, the Sea-Dweller accessory pouch holding bracelet adjustment tool (# 2100), extension link and Buehlmann decompression table….and even the delivery bezel protector! This watch has the classic, plain inner rehaut (not numbered). This 1999 model comes with modern Rolex boxes, an Oyster booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. Having recently had a new bezel insert and crown fitted — and then spent much of its time in our pawnbroking safes — it is in very pleasing condition with only moderate wear to the bracelet and bezel rim. We do note that the glass fitted is generic, not by Rolex. We had sent it to Rolex UK in 2021 for an overhaul, but did not proceed because they wanted to replace the entire mid-case and bezel assembly. The NEW equivalent is now £13,750 !
