This V50xxxx case number watch is in very nice condition with only moderate signs of wear for its age. It has Rolex boxes, Daytona booklet, numbered green swing-tag and UK warranty card from the famous jewellers Wempe dated October 2009. The NEW ceramic bezels models now have an RRP of £9,100 but waiting lists are generally closed and that model is commonly being offered on the secondary market for over £15,000. This has made the outgoing 116520 an extremely attractive purchase and it remains in its own right one of the most sought after Rolex models.

£1,999 Stock number: 12-14-012Lady's bicolour Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date model 6917 (3) on Jubilee 62523 bracelet with champagne / baton dial. Comes with its original boxes, numbered green swing-tag and Rolex papers dated September 1983. Unusually, it has been fitted with a synthetic sapphire glass that is not by Rolex, to update the older and more easily marked acrylic glass. We don't as a rule approve of such work, but this appears to have been very well executed, it modernises the watch and tests well for water-resistance. The watch shows some signs of its age, but for a buyer who will wear it sensibly offers great value – especially with its boxes and papers. Please note: it comes correctly with the Rolex 2035 calibre movement and as such does not have the “quick-set” feature, which would allow easier correction of the date at the end of a short month; instead one must simply advance or reverse the hands 24 hours to change the date.

The new, fatter, ceramic bezel version now has an RRP of £5,450 but these earlier models are proving very popular in their own right.
* Whether this watch should have a red swing tag is an interesting question. Such a tag normally denotes a chronometer-certified movement, but there is no chronometer text on the dial of the early 14060M series. However, the 3130 calibre movements in these models (replacing the 3000 calibres of the plain 14060) were reported to be chronometer-rated, even if for a time existing dials continued to be used which did not reflect that. In later production, dials were used which did explicitly celebrate the model's chronometer status. Two members of the Miltons watch team were managers of a Rolex main agent when these watches were sold new, and their recollection is that the 14060Ms did come with red swing-tags. We cannot be certain, but this one has a red tag so if you don't feel it should belong with the watch….have it on us anyway!

£7,299 Stock number: 12-59-03216610 LV with box & papers! Stainless steel Rolex Date Submariner model 16610 T / LV with Mark IV maxi dial and green “slim 4” bezel insert. This is an M58xxxx case-number watch in excellent condition with both boxes, Submariner booklet, red swing-tag and the original UK warranty card (specifying that it is a 16610LV) from David M. Robinson, dated November 2008. The bezel insert is almost perfect with only the lightest of marks. Correctly, this model version has a numbered inner rehaut. The new equivalent is now £6,600 but these older models have been increasingly sought after since they were discontinued a few years ago and a number of dealers are now asking closer to £8,000 for one with box and papers like this. We believe this to be an early version of the black dial (possibly from a 6827 model and thus older than the watch itself); it has a grainy, matt black finish and less crisp printing than later versions but still looks fantastic. £5,699 Stock number: 12-63-030Rare 168000 model, with boxes and UK papers* ! Stainless steel Rolex Submariner Date model 168000 from the late 1980s with black dial and bezel insert on Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet. This is a rare piece, the “triple-0” reference being made for only a very short time. It has the later “SWISS MADE” dial with white metal surrounds to the indices, almost certainly fitted during Rolex UK service in 2005. The original dials often cracked or “spidered” and so have commonly been replaced. As a very nice example of an interesting watch about whose future value many will speculate, it comes with both boxes (16800 sticker), papers as detailed below and the Oyster booklet. The main case and bezel are in extremely pleasing condition, the bracelet even better – it has an “L11” date-code in the clasp, suggesting manufacture in late 1987. The new equivalent is now £6,250 but a watch like this has a market of its own.
