£2,599 Stock number: 52-24-036Stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King-Date Precision model 5700 with silver / baton dial on folded-link Oyster 7835 bracelet. This somewhat collectible model dates from around 1974 and its 3756xxx case number suggests manufacture in the same batch as the one illustrated on p361 of Osvaldo Patrizzi's book, “Collecting Rolex Wristwatches.” To change the date on this 1520-calibre model, one simply advances the main hands forwards or backwards past midnight. In fine condition for its age, but please note that (1) the bracelet shows some signs of wear and distortion, (2) we no longer guarantee these older, plastic glass models to be water-resistant and (3) time-keeping may-not be as accurate as a modern, chronometer-rated Rolex. Offered with our own presentation box, warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them.

£4,699 Stock number: 52-19-00236mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 16013 with genuine, old-style yellow / diamond dot dial on Jubilee 62523 bracelet. This circa-1987 model with the 3035 calibre movement is in surprisingly nice condition for its age with only moderate wear to the bracelet. It has been fitted with a synthetic sapphire glass that is not by Rolex, to update the older and more easily marked acrylic glass. We don’t as a rule approve of such work, but this appears to have been very well executed, it modernises the watch and tests well for water-resistance. It comes with a plain presentation box, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. The new equivalent is now £12,400!

Stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual DATE model 1500(0) with smart silver / baton dial and Oyster 78350 bracelet. If you click through the main image on the left, you will be able to click on a second image showing some of the accompanying items, which are: (1) Your Rolex Oyster instruction booklet with punched centre-fold guarantee pages detailing first sale in Kowloon, May 1969 (2) original chronometer certificate with matching watch and movement numbers dated December 1968 (3) original cash sales slip from a jewellers in Kowloon dated May 1969 (4) green hard-back document wallet (5) service slip from Rolex UK dated August 2000 and (6) Oyster Perpetual “Red Seal” Chronometer card which was placed in the original box when first sold. This watch is in very good condition for its age; it appears to have had a new bracelet fitted circa 1991, the dial also perhaps having been replaced then or earlier. These 1575-calibre models did not have a “quick-set” facility for changing the date at the end of a short month, so the hands have to be turned forward 24 hours to advance it when needed. Please note that although it tests as water-resistant, we no longer guarantee these older, plastic glass models to be so. Supplied in our own presentation box.

Stainless steel Rolex Milgauss model 116400 with white / orange baton dial on Oyster 72400 bracelet. The highly anti-magnetic Milgauss models were re-introduced into the Rolex range some years ago, though many clients bought them simply for their large size, striking looks (check out that lightning strike seconds hand!) and clear dials. The last NEW RRP of this model was £5,650 but today only the “trippy” GV versions are available – at £6,050. Many will be watching to see if this and the similar black dial variant become yet more classic, desirable and discontinued Rolex, being slightly unusual and never sold in massive numbers.

£5,199 Stock number: 12-68-018Fresh from overhaul at Rolex UK, and still in service stickers! Stainless steel Rolex Sea-Dweller 4000 model 16660 with 84xxxxx case number from the mid-1980s. Has black dial and bezel insert, on a more recent Oyster Fliplock 93160A bracelet. It comes with original Rolex 67.00.08 boxes, correct Submariner booklet* and the service card from Rolex UK dated November 2017 when it had a £609 overhaul including crown, new glass and bezel insert. During service Rolex wanted to replace this watch's mid-case, back and slightly aged dial, which we declined. As often, they agreed to proceed but with elements of their service warranty duly waived. A copy of their invoice with relevant details is included. Our own testing confirms that the watch's water-resistance with the crown correctly screwed down will be more than sufficient for most users, but we advise a professional or serious diver to look at one of our other Sea-Dwellers. The current, fat-case / ceramic bezel Sea-Dweller now has a NEW RRP of £8,350…and that's if you can find one!
* This 1984 instruction booklet itself has significant value, as it illustrates and specifies the desirable 5513, 16800, 16660 and nipple-dial 16808 models.

£5,399 Stock number: 52-56-013Outstanding condition! 36mm stainless steel and white metal Rolex Oyster Perpetual NON-date model 116034 from approx 2008, with most unusual two-tone silver / metallic blue / arabic numeral dial on Oyster 70200 bracelet. In excellent condition with both boxes, Oyster Perpetual booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. When we sold this watch previously it still had its original Rolex warranty card from Spain dated June 2015*, but this was no longer with it when the watch was recently traded back in with us. There is no direct new equivalent with a white metal bezel in today’s Oyster Perpetual range, but most such models are now in great demand and residual prices reflect the lack of stock available.
* The case number of this watch suggests that it was originally manufactured circa 2008 but there are a number of reasons why such a watch may not sell until some years later. The extraordinary condition and accompanying type of warranty card / document wallet that first came with it were consistent with the late date of sale.
