Dating from around 1989, this watch is in extraordinary condition for its age; the case, bezel and bracelet appear to retain their factory finish and the green sticker is still on the case-back! Only the dial, which has mellowed evenly from a deep blue to an attractive lilac colour as they often did, shows signs of its age*. The bicolour 62523 reference Jubilee bracelets on these models often suffered if worn hard, and this one has been replaced with a genuine, all-steel Rolex Jubilee 62510 bracelet which is in superb condition. Usually a steel bracelet was fitted because the cost of replacing the old, bicolour one like-for-like was deemed too expensive by its owner. Priced keenly to reflect its altered specification, it offers a great value Datejust supplied with a later Oyster booklet, our own presentation box, warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. £3,699 Stock number: 72-27-00536mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 16013 with classic champagne / baton dial on Jubilee 62523 bracelet. Although the bracelet does show moderate wear, this mid-1980s model with 3035 calibre movement is in surprisingly nice condition for its age. It has been fitted with a replacement acrylic glass that is not by Rolex. It comes with original 16013 box set, Datejust booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register to confirm that we checked it with them. It appears that this watch was sold in February 1987 by Laing the Jeweller in Edinburgh, but unfortunately (as was surprisingly common) that jeweller gave the wrong COSC certificate out with it, which has now been retained to avoid confusion. Please note that we no longer guarantee these older, plastic glass models to be water-resistant. The new equivalent is now £9,350!

£3,599 Stock number: 12-38-034Stainless steel Rolex Datejust model 179160 on Oyster 72130 bracelet, extraordinarily fitted with a genuine silver / diamond dot dial that is usually reserved exclusively for dearer models with white metal bezels. This is a very clean-looking watch in superb order, having Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet and UK papers from Watches of Switzerland in Knightsbridge dated July 2007. While this combination of watch and dial is not listed in the standard Rolex price list, one can deduce from the base model (£4,100) and diamond dial uplift (£1,350) that a new equivalent would theoretically be £5,450…..although Rolex do not offer such a watch. Sometimes it’s good to be different; not everyone likes the fluted bezel finish on the white metal versions. This is not the first nor the most surprising combination we have seen like this: we recall a steel Daytona 116520 fitted contrary to standard spec. with a black / diamond dot dial (swapped from a white gold model), which was then serviced by Rolex UK.
