£15,999 Stock number: 52-66-019GENUINE diamond dial and bezel, both by Rolex ! 36mm Rolex Day-Date model 18038 in 18ct yellow gold on President 8385 bracelet with striking black / diamond dot dial AND a full diamond bezel, from Rolex ! Yes, this circa 1986 watch had its original gold, fluted bezel replaced with a new DIAMOND bezel direct from Rolex through one of their main agents (and confirmed by them)! Its case back appears to show Rolex UK service markings from 1999 and 2004. It is in very good condition but we do note that the GLASS is a generic replacement, not by Rolex. It comes with a modern Rolex box-set, original Day-Date booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. £15,999 Stock number: 52-47-002Bicolour Rolex Daytona Cosmograph model 116523 on Oysterlock 78493 bracelet with colourful black Mother-of-Pearl / roman numeral dial! Comes with large Rolex boxes, Daytona booklet and Rolex USA papers dated March 2008. The watch shows some signs of age & wear, including to the bezel, crown and push-pieces, and we note that it has been fitted with a generic glass, not made by Rolex. These factors have been reflected in the price. A NEW equivalent with just a plain dial (if you could find one anywhere) is now £14,350….and a Mother of Pearl dial would add significantly more, if one were still offered. Demand for the Professional series of Rolex watches like this currently exceeds supply to such an extent that even secondhand examples commonly attract a premium.

£15,999 Stock number: 62-53-002Collectible “STICK dial / Pepsi” GMT-Master II, first sold new in 2006 by one of our own Watch Team, when he was the manager at a Rolex main agent! Stainless steel Rolex GMT-Master II model 16710 T with black “SWISS MADE” dial, perfect blue / red bezel insert and Oysterlock 78790A bracelet. This superb D907xxx case-number watch with 3185 calibre movement is from the last few years of production and comes with Rolex boxes, GMT-Master booklet, both swing-tags and UK papers from Pyke & Sons in Birkenhead dated July 2006. The green swing-tag denotes that it is a 16710BLRO, which means it had a red and blue bezel from new when it left the Rolex factory. In excellent condition – it still even has the aged delivery sticker on its case-back! Please note that it has the desirable “stick” dial, where the number “II” after GMT-Master is denoted by two straight lines rather than a serif-ed or roman style of numeral. A close-up of that detail may be viewed by clicking through the main picture. The “stick” dials have been a cause of much speculation, but we have been able conclusively to dismiss the connection between such dials and the presence of 3185 / 3186 calibres respectively. The fatter, NEW equivalent GMT-Master is now £8,400 (if only you could buy one at RRP!) but this earlier, less bulky and arguably more interesting model has an army of followers who have chased prices ever higher since it was discontinued. This F380xxxx case number watch is in outstanding condition, still in its protective stickers. £15,999 Stock number: 42-69-010Vintage Rolex GMT-Master with original Mark 5B dial *, so-called PEPSI bezel and in outstanding condition, still in Rolex UK service stickers! Stainless steel Rolex GMT-Master model 1675 from around 1978 with 557xxxx case number. It was most recently serviced by Rolex UK in February 2017 and was then bought by S.S.Milton Ltd in Chester later that year. Still in its striped service stickers, it has lived thereafter unworn in our safes. Extensive service history may be viewed in our photo-essay (see link below). The Oyster 78360 bracelet with 580 end-links has an “O1” clasp code, suggesting that is an early 1990 replacement part. It has a Rolex 1575 calibre movement, the bridge marked 1570 as normal, its unique movement number D724674 shown in the photo-essay linked below. The movement is running well, testing close to spot on for time-keeping in July 2023, although this will vary slightly depending on the individual wearer. Its case, crown and glass are in excellent condition, the case numbering is crisp and clear, the bezel insert is excellent and the bezel rim is very good, if evenly worn. The bracelet shows some signs of age and wear, but this generation of Oysters was substantial and it has many years of reasonable wear left. The watch appears to have had little wear following the 2017 service by Rolex UK and since we bought it in September 2017 has simply sat in one of the Miltons’ safes! Comes with its original “sea-horse” Rolex box set (ref 10 001) with “50 YEARS OF THE ROLEX OYSTER” plaque, GMT-Master “clouds” booklet (itself rare and worth hundreds of pounds!), Rolex service slips from 2009 and 2017, further service paperwork from the Rolex main agent, Goldsmiths and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. Please note that while we have successfully tested water resistance for normal use including recreational swimming etc, we would advise that more extensive pressure testing be carried out before any significant underwater diving is considered. Many collectors of such vintage Rolex where the dial is a key part of the value wisely choose NOT to swim in them, as a simple mistake in securing the crown or any subsequent and unrecognised deterioration in sealing could see water enter the case, damage the dial and destroy significant value. If you want to fly your ‘plane in it of course, go right ahead !

£15,999 Stock number: 12-26-002A British Army helicopter pilot’s watch : vintage Rolex 1680 Submariner Date with Mark 2 dial, box & papers! Stainless steel Rolex Submariner Date model 1680 with 6152xxx case number, its original dial being in simply outstanding condition. First purchased by Captain “P” in Singapore during December 1980, this watch retains its original punched papers, plastic document wallet bearing a sticker with the watch’s faded case number on it, YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklet with 1980 print-code, Rolex 68.00.2 box with slotted card interior and “Création Genève” motif inside the lid, a Rolex UK service card dated June 2002 and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. In early 2014 the watch was taken to a Rolex main agent who knew to direct the watch to us, and Miltons (Liverpool) Ltd bought it in February 2014. It lived thereafter unworn in our safes until April 2023 when we sent it to Steven Hale Watch Restoration Limited, a fully accredited Rolex watch-maker and one of the UK’s leading vintage specialists. The watch enjoyed £1,536 worth of work including a full movement service and the fitting of new glass, auto-drive wheel, rotor axle, reversers and barrel, while the paint on the hands was also restored. The black bezel insert was replaced previously and has what we believe to be a Luminova variant “pip.” The Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet with 501 B end-links has a “PJ11″ clasp code, indicating that this, too, is a replacement part from Rolex, probably not fitted earlier than 2009. The watch has a Rolex 1575 calibre movement, the bridge marked 1570 as normal, its unique movement number D856389 shown in the photo-essay linked below. The movement is running well, testing within chronometer tolerance in September 2023, although this will vary slightly depending on the individual wearer. Its case, bracelet and crown are in very good condition but we have not refinished them, allowing them to keep the character reflecting the working life the watch has led, serving Captain P as a military pilot and then with his own helicopter charter company. The case numbering is crisp and clear, the bezel insert is excellent and the bezel rim is very good. A photo-essay of this watch with many more photographs is available by clicking here .

This 2008 model has Rolex boxes, Daytona booklet, red chronometer swing-tag, one of the very latest Rolex World Service cards* and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. It also has a scan of the original international Rolex warranty card that was provided to us by insurers, although the physical card itself was lost some time ago ! The scan proves that watch was first supplied in Oman. This M48xxxx case number watch is in superb condition having just had £932 of service work, including a new glass ! The latest NEW equivalent, ceramic bezel models now have an RRP of £13,600 but “waiting lists” are generally laughable and a typical premium is the norm in the secondhand market.
* These latest service cards first appeared in late 2023. They bear no visible details of the watch or service, but instead a QR code that leads to an on-line demonstration of how to access the associated watch’s service details. By holding an enabled smart-phone next to the card, an NFC link is provided which brings up the watch’s unique details and in this instance confirms that it has a service warranty which runs until December 2025.

£16,999 Stock number: 50-83-010PAWNBROKER’S BARGAIN : latest model, with clasp and case-back still in delivery stickers ! Mid-size Rolex Yachtmaster 37 in 18ct Everose gold, model 268655 with “intense black” dial and Oysterflex strap / Everose Oysterlock clasp. In outstanding condition having spent much of its short life in our pawnbroking safes. The model reference confirms that the diamond-set shoulders are original from the factory, by Rolex. The champagne / diamond dot dial is ALSO a genuine Rolex part, but has been fitted later. This colour dial would normally be matched with champagne-colour day & date display discs, though some find these white ones easier to read. This eye-catching watch is in very good condition with only moderate wear to the bracelet. It comes with Rolex Day-Date boxes, Day-Date booklet, UK papers from Mappin & Webb at T4 Heathrow dated May 1999 and a Rolex UK service card dated January 2015. This series of Day-Date with its 3155 calibre movements was the first to feature the double quick-set feature for easy, independent alteration of the Day and Date. A direct, NEW equivalent model with diamond lugs is no longer offered, but one even without the diamond shoulders is now £34,600 — and the last time we could find a model with diamond shoulders (December 2017) they added £3,800 to the new RRP ! We note that one of the features which betrayed pre-millennium Day-Dates was their brushed shoulders. It is a bonus with this watch that the original, diamond-set shoulders remove that visual indicator, so it appears closer to much later models.

£18,499 Stock number: 52-30-021Stainless steel Rolex Daytona with two Rolex UK service slips….and most unusually a genuine diamond dial, fitted approx 15 years ago! Stainless steel Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model 116520 from approximately 2002, on Oysterlock 78490 bracelet. Unusually, soon after first sale the watch was fitted with a black / diamond dot dial that would typically be reserved for 18ct white gold models. Rolex themselves have been happy to accept this unusual specification, having twice now serviced the watch since it was swapped. This K28xxxx case number watch is in excellent condition, having most recently been serviced by Rolex UK in July 2019, though the bezel and bracelet show moderate signs of wear. It comes with genuine Rolex 116520 boxes, Cosmograph Daytona booklet, the two year Rolex service warranty card dated July 2019 and an earlier one dated February 2007, both of which were carried out through us. We have also provided a certificate from the ALR Watch Register, confirming that we checked it with them. The NEW ceramic bezel models now have an RRP of £10,500 but waiting lists are generally closed and that model is commonly being sold on the secondary market for over £24,000 at the time of writing. This has made the previous model 116520 an extremely attractive purchase and it remains in its own right one of the most sought after models in the range. We've never seen another steel Daytona 116520 with a diamond dial added like this, but can only speculate whether the first owner wanted it to look like a white gold model — or just fancied some sparkle! £18,999 Stock number: 52-18-023Single-owner watch, of interest to collectors and fresh from Rolex service : an early, stainless steel Rolex “Zenith” Cosmograph DAYTONA with “inverted 6” dial! Stainless steel Cosmograph Daytona model 16520 with E49xxxx case number from approx 1991. Fitted with classic Oyster 78360 bracelet (as many early ones were) on 503 end-links, its “N4” clasp date code suggesting this is original to the watch. Has black / “inverted 6” dial (click through main picture for more images). In excellent condition with minimal signs of age to the dial / hands and a sensitively polished bezel. Comes with a period Rolex box-set and very rare, correct COSMOGRAPH Daytona booklet in English with print-code from 1990, depicting the earliest examples with “floating text” dial (which preceded this version). That booklet alone sells for hundreds of pounds! It also has a green document-holder, red swing-tag and two Rolex UK service slips: one from September 1998 and the other from December 2020, when it had a comprehensive overhaul costing £900. The Rolex service stickers and bezel protector are still in place! There is also a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked the watch with them (Rolex UK will also have checked it against their own records, before service). These early versions of the first automatic Daytona, with Zenith-based 4030 calibre movement, have proved particularly popular with a growing generation of collectors. While a Rolex UK service can make many watches look fantastic, this one also went unworn for about ten years. As the seller explained, he thought he had lost it for that long — only for it finally to turn up on top of the wardrobe, where he had put it for safety when decorating a decade before!

A most impressive 18ct yellow gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model 116528 with stunning white mother of pearl / arabic numeral dial on Oysterlock 78498 bracelet. Comes with Rolex boxes, Cosmograph Daytona booklet / adjustment leaflet, original UK papers from April 2007, Rolex UK service card dated June 2020, red swing-tag and a new bezel-protector. Rolex UK have just carried out £2,120 of work including a movement overhaul, new glass, crown and bezel. The NEW equivalent watch with a plain dial is now £29,350 but an MoP dial like this would, when last available, have typically added another £1,500 or so to the price! This is a Z-series watch with numbered inner rehaut. A stunning piece with only moderate wear to the bracelet worthy of comment. We would recommend that such substantial gold watches will survive best if saved for dress wear or light duties, as hard wear will increasingly show in the bracelet and other parts. These big, gold Daytonas now seem very popular and you’ll find many, inferior examples for sale at higher prices — without the benefit of the Rolex service and new bezel that this one has.

From our archived records we have found this exact specification offered in the Rolex UK October 2008 price list (shortly before it appears to have been discontinued) at £45,510 …but prices for new watches have risen enormously since then.
