£2,399 Stock number: 52-24-013Stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual DATE model 1501(0) with silver / baton dial and Oyster 78350 bracelet. Dating from around 1970, this watch is in very good condition for its age and appears to have had a new bracelet fitted some 12 years ago. A generic acrylic glass has been fitted more recently. These early models did not have a “quick-set” facility for changing the date at the end of a short month, so the hands have to be turned forward 24 hours to advance it when needed. Please note that the dial shows minor signs of age and we no longer guarantee these older, plastic glass models to be water-resistant. Comes with a plain presentation box, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them.

Stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual DATE model 1500(0) with smart silver / baton dial and Oyster 78350 bracelet. If you click through the main image on the left, you will be able to click on a second image showing some of the accompanying items, which are: (1) Your Rolex Oyster instruction booklet with punched centre-fold guarantee pages detailing first sale in Kowloon, May 1969 (2) original chronometer certificate with matching watch and movement numbers dated December 1968 (3) original cash sales slip from a jewellers in Kowloon dated May 1969 (4) green hard-back document wallet (5) service slip from Rolex UK dated August 2000 and (6) Oyster Perpetual “Red Seal” Chronometer card which was placed in the original box when first sold. This watch is in very good condition for its age; it appears to have had a new bracelet fitted circa 1991, the dial also perhaps having been replaced then or earlier. Please note that (1) as a model with a push-crown and a strap this is NOT offered as a water-proof watch (2) such Cartiers are essentially very stylish DRESS watches; the automatic movements inside them are rarely perfect time-keepers and can seem noisy when the self-winding rotor turns (3) we would normally advise that anything between – 10 to + 15 seconds per day should be expected on these models, even after a service.

£2,399 Stock number: 50-14-005Stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King-Date model 5700 with dark grey / baton dial, unusually fitted with a Jubilee 62510 bracelet that has probably been fitted later to replace the more common Oyster 78350. This somewhat collectible model dates from around 1977. To change the date on this 1520-calibre model, one simply advances the main hands forwards or backwards past midnight. In fine condition for its age, but please note that (1) the bracelet shows some signs of wear, (2) we no longer guarantee these older, plastic glass models to be water-resistant and (3) time-keeping may-not be as accurate as a modern, chronometer-rated Rolex. £2,299 Stock number: 12-30-010Stainless steel and white metal Datejust “Turn-o-Graph” model 16264 from approx 1996, on Oyster 78360 bracelet with blue / roman numeral dial (which correctly for its age does not show the actual word “Turn-o-Graph” as the latest versions do). Comes with a Rolex box-set, an Oyster booklet, red swing-tag and our own warranty card. We note that in December 2009 the watch was sold secondhand by The Old Watch Shop in Southport. At some point in its life someone has fitted this bracelet which is slightly younger than the watch, but with “280” end-links from another bracelet, such as a 9315 Oyster Fliplock, though this makes no practical difference in wear. The glass and bezel show some slight signs of general wear, but this watch offers excellent value when you consider that the cheapest new steel Datejust for men is now £4,450!

Originally this watch was fitted with a bicolour Jubilee bracelet, but at some point that has worn out and been replaced by a stainless steel Rolex Oyster 78240 bracelet. We have seen this perhaps a dozen times over the years, where an owner has not wished to pay the high cost of a new bicolour bracelet and has thus had a much less expensive steel version fitted. £2,299 Stock number: 70-12-036Gent's stainless steel and white metal Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust model 1601(4) from approx 1966 with silver / baton dial and Jubilee 62510 bracelet. In July 2017 this watch enjoyed over £1,000 worth of service work at Rolex UK through their main agent, Goldsmiths. We note that the dial appears to be a recent service dial and the bracelet, too, appears to have been replaced in the late 1990s. Because of its age, we ask you to note: (1) we no longer guarantee these older, plastic glass models to be water-resistant (2) this model correctly has no “quick-set” facility for changing the date at the end of a short month, so the wearer must turn the hands through 24 hours to advance the date (3) while running well, there is slightly more noise from the movement rotor than you might expect from a modern watch. Additional value is attributed because of the fluted bezel on this model, a component available only in white or yellow metal. The last time a NEW equivalent was available, the RRP was £4,350!

£2,299 Stock number: 52-24-038Rare, 1960s Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King Precision model 5500 in 9ct yellow gold with attractive silver / baton dial. This 1520 calibre model was common in stainless steel, but a small number were made in gold. We ask you to note that : (1) the dial and hands show some signs of age / wear / marks (2) we no longer guarantee these older, plastic glass models to be water-resistant (3) the gold case has typically worn with age and there are signs of repair / rebuilding to some lug-ends, where the gold is a slightly different colour and (4) the ostrich leather strap and and base-metal pin-buckle are both generic parts, NOT made by Rolex. The watch is priced very reasonably to reflect these points. It comes with a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them, our own presentation box and warranty card.

This 1993 model comes with original boxes, undated UK papers from John Pass Watchmakers & Jewellers in Crewe, an Oyster booklet and Rolex UK service card from March 2017. There are some signs of age and wear, especially to the bracelet, but this has been reflected in the price. We recommend that it should now be given a gentler life or saved for dress wear.

£2,299 Stock number: 52-27-00418ct yellow gold Rolex Cellini model 4112/8 from the late 1990s with bright white / applied roman numeral dial. In beautiful condition with genuine Cellini 4112/8 boxes, a Rolex booklet about Benvenuto Cellini (in whose honour their dress watches are named), our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. This is a non-automatic, mechanical model whose 1602 calibre movement correctly requires manual winding daily. It cannot be expected to be as accurate as a quartz or self-winding model. As a slim dress watch, it is not water-proof. While the strap bears the original, hallmarked 18ct buckle by Rolex, the leather part is a generic replacement, not from Rolex. This is a very stylish and slim Rolex dress watch, contrasting with the chunky looks of the more common Oyster range.

This beautiful watch with ETA-based movement was the subject of an insurance claim and has spent much of its short life in various safes. It comes with no original accessories, but our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. There are very few signs of wear, just a few small marks around the bezel rim.
