This late 1980s model with the 3035 calibre movement is in surprisingly nice condition for its age, though there is some wear to the bracelet. It comes with original 16013 boxes, Datejust booklet, a Rolex UK service slip from July 2008 and our own warranty card. Unusually, this watch has been fitted with a synthetic sapphire glass that is not by Rolex, to update the older and more easily marked acrylic glass. We don't as a rule approve of such work, but this appears to have been very well executed, it modernises the watch and tests well for water-resistancy. The new equivalent is now £8,050!

Contrary to the widely-held belief of a million wine-bar experts, for over twenty years Rolex DID make a quartz watch whose second hand TICKS rather than sweeps, as one might otherwise rightly expect of their mechanical watches. These Oysterquartz models are quite rare and their chunky looks are not to everyone's taste, but they have a following and this one is in very nice condition. It comes with a Rolex box-set and UK service slip from 2012, when we had it serviced and a new dial fitted at a cost of over £750. We like to warn prospective buyers just how LOUD the ticking sound always is on the Rolex 5035 quartz module. If you enjoy stalking lions, work for the Special Forces or are plagued by fears that a ticking bomb might be under your living room chair, this may not be the model for you. Offered with a one year warranty, since the Oysterquartz range is now discontinued.

£2,699 Stock number: 52-33-004Lady’s bicolour Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date model 6917 (3) on Jubilee 62523 bracelet with white / small roman numeral dial. Comes with its original boxes, numbered green swing-tag, hand-written Rolex papers from Kuwait dated June 1983 and our own warranty card. Unusually, it has been fitted with a synthetic sapphire glass that is not by Rolex, to update the older and more easily marked acrylic glass. We don’t as a rule approve of such work, but this appears to have been very well executed, it modernises the watch and tests well for water-resistance. The watch shows some signs of its age, most notably to the bracelet, but for a buyer who will wear it sensibly offers great value – especially with its boxes and papers. Please note: this early 1980s watch comes correctly with the Rolex 203x calibre movement and as such does not have the “quick-set” feature, which would allow easier correction of the date at the end of a short month; instead one must simply advance or reverse the hands 24 hours to change the date.

£2,699 Stock number: 50-81-034Gent’s stainless steel 41mm Omega Seamaster Professional 300m co-axial automatic bracelet watch, model 212.30.41.20.01.003 with black dial and ceramic bezel insert. This beautiful example comes with impressive box set, instruction book, matching Omega cards from Goldsmiths dated July 2019 and the original Omega model specification sheet. It is in excellent condition, having spent much of its short life in our pawnbroking safes. The lovely box still comes with its white outer carton, but the fold-down flap to the latter has (as often) suffered from wear and is held in place with sticky tape.
