This watch still has the original, large Rolex box, Day-Date booklet, UK papers from Zales in Wrexham dated June 1987 (still in their original green plastic wallet) and a Rolex UK service slip dated November 2007. It is in excellent condition for its age with few signs of wear to the bracelet. The NEW equivalent is now £23,050 and good, pre-owned examples are increasingly difficult to find, especially with accessories like this.

£8,299 Stock number: 52-33-018COMPROMISED / RE-NUMBERED Rolex GMT-Master, priced accordingly and sold with full disclosure. Stainless steel Rolex GMT-Master, 3175-calibre model 16700 with black “SWISS” dial and “Pepsi” blue and red bezel insert on Jubilee bracelet. We identified this watch as having previously had its original case number (located between the lugs at the six o'clock end) erased and then probably a different case number applied in its place. Accordingly, we sent it to Rolex UK to see if they could confirm our thoughts and the watch's original identity. They identified it as a ROLEX GMT-MASTER…Model 16700….Bracelet Jubilee 62510 20…with Dial 16758 BLAC HMK W but otherwise commented “Serial No. MODIFIED” and “…this watch has been heavily modified. We are unable to offer service facilities to modified models and therefore return the watch in the condition that it was received.“ We believe this supports our own findings. It appears that they did not link it to any watch reported stolen or lost, which might have been identified from the movement number. It could well be, then, that the watch was renumbered either in a clumsy attempt to clarify the original number which had been scratched or damaged in some way, or perhaps the number was changed only to make it appear to correspond with the set of papers accompanying it, in an attempt to add value (which we have seen many times). After Rolex's response, there now appears to be no way of establishing its original identity. The Rolex papers are dated 1997 and belonged to a watch supplied in Corfu, but that may well be no indication of this watch's history if they do not truly belong with it. The watch may have been supplied in any country and at any time between around 1988 and the year 2000. The bracelet appears to be in excellent order and may have been swapped, but the clasp itself bears a date code suggesting that part at least is from the start of the model's production date range. The watch comes with an English language Rolex GMT-Master booklet from 1999, later Rolex boxes, Rolex COSC certificate # T356182 (which must be seen in context and in no way supporting or necessarily associated with this watch) and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that the case number currently applied, at least, has been checked with them. Jubilee bracelets with 502 B end-links like this were a rare but standard option on GMT-Master 16700s. They commonly suffered the effects of wear more than the Oyster variants, although this one appears to be in very good order. We would not wish any subsequent buyer to pay for this watch in the future without realising its full nature, so we publish here its current (if spurious) case number T356182 and movement number 3 8104222 for the record, together with this extensive narrative. We have marked the papers to show that they accompany a renumbered watch. Its 16700 case-back also bears the Rolex service rejection marking LON 11/20 264329XX which corresponds with the paperwork received from them. Rolex UK will not provide service or parts for a watch in these circumstances, so both must be obtained from independent watchmakers if required. It is running within specification at the moment and comes with our usual two year warranty. We feel the watch offers good value at this price (heavily discounted from that of a similar, correct watch), but would like to ensure that any buyer fully understands all that they need to. £8,299 Stock number: 52-57-004EX-DISPLAY model, UNWORN and still in delivery stickers! The watch is in very fine condition but there are some superficial marks on the highly-polished bezel. 36mm stainless steel and white metal Rolex Datejust TURN-O-GRAPH model 116264 on Jubilee 63200 bracelet with bright white / baton dial. Comes with Rolex boxes, correct Datejust booklet, red swing-tag and UK papers from John Pass the Jewellers in Crewe dated January 2006. A new equivalent was last listed in Rolex UK's 2016 price list at £6,000 – but production ceased some years ago, since when there have been significant price rises across the rest of the range and increasing interest in this model. Red detail to the dial text, seconds hand and date display are distinctive on the modern Turn-o-Graph. Please note that while it features a time-lapse bezel, the Turn-o-Graph remains essentially a dress watch. For more robust use we would recommend one of the Rolex Professional range, perhaps a Submariner. This watch attracts collector interest in its unworn, stickered state. Please note that removing the stickers and / or wearing it may reduce that value somewhat.

This random case number watch with four-line “SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED” text and numbered inner rehaut is one of the very last examples of what has in recent years become an extremely desirable model. Earlier versions did not feature the additional SCOC text on the dial. It is in excellent condition with only moderate signs of wear and comes with Rolex boxes, Submariner booklet, both swing-tags and international Rolex warranty card dated March 2014. That is some two years after the subsequent model had been introduced! It seems that today’s market increasingly appreciates the proportions and value of this generation of Rolex sports models. £8,299 Stock number: 52-67-001Colourful variant, no longer offered by Rolex ! 40mm stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Milgauss model 116400GV on Oyster 72400A bracelet with “Z-Blue” / index dial, orange “lightning bolt” seconds hand and green-tinted synthetic sapphire glass. Has Rolex boxes, Milgauss booklet, red swing-tag and and UK warranty card from John D. Eaton Ltd in Derby dated October 2014. The highly anti-magnetic Milgauss models were re-introduced into the Rolex range over 15 years ago but this last version with its striking green glass / blue dial was especially popular. When it last appeared in UK price lists the NEW RRP was £7,850, but like many of the more unusual steel Professional models, it was always a very hard watch to source at main agents. £8,199 Stock number: 82-66-008Collectible, “full set” 1989 Submariner ! In production for just over twenty years, this is one of the earliest examples of the stainless steel Rolex Date Submariner model 16610 with black bezel insert and tritium dial on 93150 bracelet. It comes with original 16610 box set (ref 68.00.2 with cushion & wrap / cardboard outer and in exceptional condition), both ROLEX SUBMARINER and YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklets *, both red COSC chronometer swing-tag and the numbered green “OYSTER SWIMPRUF” swing-tag, UK papers from Lepps in Warrington dated August 1989 in black document holder with translation leaflet, Rolex 1989-1990 calendar card and even the novelty “silver string” Rolex 1.000 / 300 anchor charm – accessories which on their own are worth several hundred pounds but when still accompanying the unique watch with which they were supplied add so much more ! The bracelet is in excellent condition, has correct 501 B end links and an “M11” clasp code suggesting manufacture of that part in November 1988. The watch head with L249xxx case number is in very good condition with thick lugs and only minor signs of wear to glass and bezel insert. The “SWISS – T < 25” dial is original and like many from this era it is a “spider” dial — that is to say, its gloss black surface has over time “crazed” with a fine pattern that is often hard to see with the naked eye, usually stable and resembles threads of a spider’s silk under magnification. A macro (close-up) image to illustrate this may be viewed by clicking through the main picture. It correctly has a 16610 case-back marked inside with the first four characters of the case number and a 3135 calibre Rolex movement bearing unique number 5223450. It still has the original green factory sticker, albeit quite worn, on the case-back! The larger, NEW equivalent Submariner is now £9,000 (if you can find one….) but the earlier models have proved increasingly popular in their own right and a “full set” like this is increasingly rare on the market.
* The Submariner booklet is a particularly desirable version. It has the print code “594.52 Eng – 7 – 9.1988” which indicates that it was intended for the English market and printed in September 1988. Importantly, it includes pictures / instructions for two very desirable models, the non-date Submariner 5513 and the Sea-Dweller 16660.

This 1996 model was originally supplied on a President bracelet, but like many its bracelet had reached the end of its life and it is now offered on a brown, lizard strap NOT made by Rolex, but fitted with a genuine Rolex “750” pin-buckle. Comes with original 18238 boxes, Day-Date booklet, numbered green swing-tag and undated UK Rolex papers. The watch is in very nice condition, the dial showing minimal signs of age.
