£14,399 Stock number: 50-79-060Collectible example, with original papers ! Rolex Cosmograph DAYTONA model 16523 in stainless steel and yellow metal on Oyster 78393 bracelet with champagne dial. Comes with polished dark wood / green Jubilee outer box set, Cosmograph Daytona booklet (accessories which are themselves worth several hundred pounds!), red chronometer swing-tag and international Rolex papers dated June 1995. It is in very pleasing condition after the previous owner spent £1,052 having it serviced at Perpetual Time in Liverpool in March 2021, after which it has spent most time in our pawnbroking safes. The main case and bezel are surprisingly good for a watch of this age while the bracelet shows only moderate wear, but we do note some signs of ageing to the dial under magnification. The new equivalent is now £18,950 but these earlier models with their Zenith-derived 4030 calibre Rolex movement have a market all of their own. Fitted with a striking black / diamond dot dial and so-called “exotic” red hands (not a standard combination, but one that rather attractively mixes the elements of two different dial options). The date on the papers has been obscured but the D39xxxx case number and the bracelet clasp code confirm that this is a 2005 model. This watch is in fantastic condition! This random case number watch is in superb condition having just had £925 of service work including a new glass! While it no longer has its original warranty card, we have seen this watch previously and noted that it was first supplied in Canada in August 2014. The NEW ceramic bezel models now have an RRP of £10,500 but “waiting lists” are generally closed and that version is commonly being sold on the secondary market for around £19,000. This has made the 116520 an extremely attractive purchase and it remains in its own right one of the most sought after models.

The “ghost” dials (usually pale colours with white text) have seen increased collector interest in recent years. In very good condition, this 1980s watch comes with large “luggage-style” Rolex box, correct Day-Date booklet (itself now increasingly valuable!), our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. At considerable expense we have just fitted a number of new links direct from Rolex, but we do note that the dial is showing very slight signs of age and the glass is generic, NOT by Rolex. The 18039 introduced the “single quick-set” feature to allow easier setting than on previous versions of the Day-Date, thanks to its 3055 calibre movement. The NEW equivalent is now £35,800! This stainless steel watch is an F61xxxx case-number example in excellent condition with both boxes (outer stickered “16610”), both “Your Oyster” and “Rolex Submariner” booklets, both swing-tags (the green specifying “16610LV”), original Rolex papers from Dubai dated October 2004, Rolex calendar card 2005/2006, novelty anchor, bezel protector, the Rolex UK service card dated August 2018 and original invoice for £981.35 (both also specifying that it is a 16610LV). The dial may be identified as the Mark 1 most easily by looking at the wide “SWISS MADE” text at 6 o’clock. The bezel insert, glass and crown were all replaced at service and the watch has barely been worn since then — it still bears the service stickers to case sides! Correctly, this version has a plain, un-numbered inner rehaut. The new equivalent has just increased to £7,650 but these older models have been increasingly sought after since they were discontinued some years ago. We first offered the watch in 2018 and it has been in a private hands since then, barely being worn since Rolex service. * The so-called “Flat Four” (or “Fat Four”) bezel inserts are identified by looking closely at the figure “4” in “40” on the bezel insert. If the shape of the green area enclosed by the body of the four has a flat top, as here, then it is a “Flat Four.” If instead it comes to a point, creating a trianglular shape inside the “4,” then it is a “Thin Four” insert. Do not confuse the important, internal shape with the external top-line of the figure “4” itself, as the latter is flat in all versions. The “Flat Four” inserts have become increasingly sought after by collectors, having apparently been produced for only a short time and fitted to the earliest examples of this model, specifically Y to F case number watches circa 2004. If owners lost or damaged one of those original inserts, it would previously as a matter of routine have been replaced with a “Thin Four” insert. What is extraordinary here is that the “Flat Four” insert was supplied and fitted by Rolex UK in 2018, long after it is thought such inserts had all been used up. Close examination shows that this may be a new version of the “Flat Four,” marginally different in the subtlest of ways from the early ones. Is it a newly-released service part? If so, will it be fitted to all 16610LVs, or only those early examples like this for which a “Flat Four” would be correct? Not wishing simply to sell such a desirable piece without disclosure or comment about this unusual part, I started discussions on two specialist watch fora, both of which you can read with single clicks here: 2018 “Flat Four” discussion on tz-uk and here: similar discussion on rolexforums. At the time of writing it still seems no one is certain what to make of it. Is it an old part that we were just lucky to be given? Is it a part that they can release to owners of correct, early LVs that would have had a “Flat Four?” Is it instead a new, standard part that will be fitted to all 16610 LVs from now? What effect will that have on values, for both early ones that should have such an insert and later watches which correctly did not? We cannot know, but invite potential purchasers to follow as much due diligence as we have. Reflecting the uncertainty about Rolex and this hitherto-unseen insert, we are pricing the watch for a little less than if it had one of the circa-2004 originals.

£15,999 Stock number: 62-53-002Collectible “STICK dial / Pepsi” GMT-Master II, first sold new in 2006 by one of our own Watch Team, when he was the manager at a Rolex main agent! Stainless steel Rolex GMT-Master II model 16710 T with black “SWISS MADE” dial, perfect blue / red bezel insert and Oysterlock 78790A bracelet. This superb D907xxx case-number watch with 3185 calibre movement is from the last few years of production and comes with Rolex boxes, GMT-Master booklet, both swing-tags and UK papers from Pyke & Sons in Birkenhead dated July 2006. The green swing-tag denotes that it is a 16710BLRO, which means it had a red and blue bezel from new when it left the Rolex factory. In excellent condition – it still even has the aged delivery sticker on its case-back! Please note that it has the desirable “stick” dial, where the number “II” after GMT-Master is denoted by two straight lines rather than a serif-ed or roman style of numeral. A close-up of that detail may be viewed by clicking through the main picture. The “stick” dials have been a cause of much speculation, but we have been able conclusively to dismiss the connection between such dials and the presence of 3185 / 3186 calibres respectively. The fatter, NEW equivalent GMT-Master is now £8,400 (if only you could buy one at RRP!) but this earlier, less bulky and arguably more interesting model has an army of followers who have chased prices ever higher since it was discontinued. £15,999 Stock number: 42-69-010Vintage Rolex GMT-Master with original Mark 5B dial *, so-called PEPSI bezel and in outstanding condition, still in Rolex UK service stickers! Stainless steel Rolex GMT-Master model 1675 from around 1978 with 557xxxx case number. It was most recently serviced by Rolex UK in February 2017 and was then bought by S.S.Milton Ltd in Chester later that year. Still in its striped service stickers, it has lived thereafter unworn in our safes. Extensive service history may be viewed in our photo-essay (see link below). The Oyster 78360 bracelet with 580 end-links has an “O1” clasp code, suggesting that is an early 1990 replacement part. It has a Rolex 1575 calibre movement, the bridge marked 1570 as normal, its unique movement number D724674 shown in the photo-essay linked below. The movement is running well, testing close to spot on for time-keeping in July 2023, although this will vary slightly depending on the individual wearer. Its case, crown and glass are in excellent condition, the case numbering is crisp and clear, the bezel insert is excellent and the bezel rim is very good, if evenly worn. The bracelet shows some signs of age and wear, but this generation of Oysters was substantial and it has many years of reasonable wear left. The watch appears to have had little wear following the 2017 service by Rolex UK and since we bought it in September 2017 has simply sat in one of the Miltons’ safes! Comes with its original “sea-horse” Rolex box set (ref 10 001) with “50 YEARS OF THE ROLEX OYSTER” plaque, GMT-Master “clouds” booklet (itself rare and worth hundreds of pounds!), Rolex service slips from 2009 and 2017, further service paperwork from the Rolex main agent, Goldsmiths and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. £15,999 Stock number: 12-26-002A British Army helicopter pilot’s watch : vintage Rolex 1680 Submariner Date with Mark 2 dial, box & papers! Stainless steel Rolex Submariner Date model 1680 with 6152xxx case number, its original dial being in simply outstanding condition. First purchased by Captain “P” in Singapore during December 1980, this watch retains its original punched papers, plastic document wallet bearing a sticker with the watch’s faded case number on it, YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklet with 1980 print-code, Rolex 68.00.2 box with slotted card interior and “Création Genève” motif inside the lid, a Rolex UK service card dated June 2002 and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. In early 2014 the watch was taken to a Rolex main agent who knew to direct the watch to us, and Miltons (Liverpool) Ltd bought it in February 2014. It lived thereafter unworn in our safes until April 2023 when we sent it to Steven Hale Watch Restoration Limited, a fully accredited Rolex watch-maker and one of the UK’s leading vintage specialists. The watch enjoyed £1,536 worth of work including a full movement service and the fitting of new glass, auto-drive wheel, rotor axle, reversers and barrel, while the paint on the hands was also restored. The black bezel insert was replaced previously and has what we believe to be a Luminova variant “pip.” The Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet with 501 B end-links has a “PJ11″ clasp code, indicating that this, too, is a replacement part from Rolex, probably not fitted earlier than 2009. The watch has a Rolex 1575 calibre movement, the bridge marked 1570 as normal, its unique movement number D856389 shown in the photo-essay linked below. The movement is running well, testing within chronometer tolerance in September 2023, although this will vary slightly depending on the individual wearer. Its case, bracelet and crown are in very good condition but we have not refinished them, allowing them to keep the character reflecting the working life the watch has led, serving Captain P as a military pilot and then with his own helicopter charter company. Rolex GMT-Master II, so-called “Pepsi” model 126710BLRO with black dial and that distinctive, two-tone bezel on Jubilee 69200 bracelet. We are aware that main agents have hundreds of outstanding requests for this model which at the current rate of supply would not be met for decades. Having paid well over RRP for it ourselves, we are in turn selling it at a significant premium to the list price. £16,799 Stock number: 82-55-022July 2021 watch in superb condition….and now a discontinued model ! 44mm stainless steel and rose metal Rolex Yachtmaster II model 116681M with white dial and blue ceramic bezel on Oysterlock 78211 bracelet. This 4161 calibre model has both boxes, Yachtmaster II booklet, both swing-tags and international Rolex warranty card dated July 2021. It is the revised model with triangle at 12 and “Mercedes” hands, rather than the plainer dial and blue hands of earlier examples. This is a complicated watch but happily it retains the valuable instruction booklet. This 2008 model has Rolex boxes, Daytona booklet, red chronometer swing-tag, one of the very latest Rolex World Service cards* and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. It also has a scan of the original international Rolex warranty card that was provided to us by insurers, although the physical card itself was lost some time ago ! £17,999 Stock number: 52-41-010Glittering diamond and gold Rolex Day-Date ! 36mm Rolex Day-Date in 18ct yellow gold, model 18338 on President 8385 bracelet. The model reference confirms that the diamond-set shoulders are original from the factory, by Rolex. The champagne / diamond dot dial is ALSO a genuine Rolex part, but has been fitted later. This colour dial would normally be matched with champagne-colour day & date display discs, though some find these white ones easier to read. This eye-catching watch is in very good condition with only moderate wear to the bracelet. It comes with Rolex Day-Date boxes, Day-Date booklet, UK papers from Mappin & Webb at T4 Heathrow dated May 1999 and a Rolex UK service card dated January 2015. This series of Day-Date with its 3155 calibre movements was the first to feature the double quick-set feature for easy, independent alteration of the Day and Date. A direct, NEW equivalent model with diamond lugs is no longer offered, but one even without the diamond shoulders is now £34,600 — and the last time we could find a model with diamond shoulders (December 2017) they added £3,800 to the new RRP ! We note that one of the features which betrayed pre-millennium Day-Dates was their brushed shoulders. It is a bonus with this watch that the original, diamond-set shoulders remove that visual indicator, so it appears closer to much later models.

Rolex themselves have been happy to accept this unusual specification, having twice now serviced the watch since it was swapped. This K28xxxx case number watch is in excellent condition, having most recently been serviced by Rolex UK in July 2019, though the bezel and bracelet show moderate signs of wear. It comes with genuine Rolex 116520 boxes, Cosmograph Daytona booklet, the two year Rolex service warranty card dated July 2019 and an earlier one dated February 2007, both of which were carried out through us. We have also provided a certificate from the ALR Watch Register, confirming that we checked it with them.
