£5,699 Stock number: 12-63-030Rare 168000 model, with boxes and UK papers* ! Stainless steel Rolex Submariner Date model 168000 from the late 1980s with black dial and bezel insert on Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet. This is a rare piece, the “triple-0” reference being made for only a very short time. It has the later “SWISS MADE” dial with white metal surrounds to the indices, almost certainly fitted during Rolex UK service in 2005. The original dials often cracked or “spidered” and so have commonly been replaced. As a very nice example of an interesting watch about whose future value many will speculate, it comes with both boxes (16800 sticker), papers as detailed below and the Oyster booklet. The main case and bezel are in extremely pleasing condition, the bracelet even better – it has an “L11” date-code in the clasp, suggesting manufacture in late 1987. The new equivalent is now £6,250 but a watch like this has a market of its own. A macro-photograph of the “168000” model reference on the watch itself can be viewed if you click to view this item on its own, then select the additional image. *The papers here specifically comprise a punched COSC certificate from Robinsons in Shrewsbury dated February 1989, stamped “DUPLICATE” and accompanied by a Rolex UK “With compliments” card, and a Rolex UK service guarantee dated May 2005 which identifies the watch clearly as a 168000.

£5,699 Stock number: 50-95-02736mm bicolour Rolex Datejust “Turn-o-Graph” model 16263 with smart, pale champagne / baton dial on Jubilee 62523 bracelet. Comes with Rolex boxes, Datejust booklet, UK papers from Goldsmiths in Wigan dated December 1992 and a Rolex UK service card dated March 2001. We know that it also had a £520 service in 2017 at “Perpetual Time” in Liverpool, when a generic glass (not by Rolex) was fitted. This is a slightly unusual and increasingly collectible model, showing only moderate signs of age / wear to the bracelet and some wear to the bezel detail, which we have reflected in the price. The last NEW equivalent finally appeared in Rolex UK’s November 2016 price list at £8,200 ! Please note that while this model features a time-lapse bezel it is essentially a dress watch. £5,499 Stock number: 12-64-019Stainless steel Rolex GMT-Master, 3175-calibre model 16700 from the early 1990s with black dial on Jubilee* bracelet, with a beautifully mellowed dial. Comes with Rolex boxes, GMT-Master booklet, green Rolex document pouch and our own warranty card. The glass, hands and bezel insert are service replacements, while we note that the bracelet shows significant wear – as was often the case with this dressier combination. The NEW equivalent is now £6,200 but these older models have proved extremely desirable in their own right over recent years and we are staggered how prices have risen even through 2017.
* The bracelet appears to be a correct Jubilee reference 62510 with penultimate “50” links and “502 B” end-links, but at some point the clasp from an Oyster 78360 bracelet has been adapted to replace the original 62510 Jubilee-reference clasp. The Jubilee bracelets fitted on GMT-Masters were a standard (if rarely specified) option, but they commonly suffered the effects of wear more than the Oyster variants. A new owner may well choose to wear the watch on a fabric strap now, to preserve the bracelet as it is.
