£4,999 Stock number: 82-87-007Classic Rolex from approx. 1987 ! 36mm bicolour Rolex Datejust model 16013 with silver / diamond dot dial on Jubilee 62523 bracelet. This 3035 calibre watch is in surprisingly nice condition for its age. It comes with a later Rolex box-set, YOUR ROLEX OYSTER booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. It has been fitted with a synthetic sapphire glass that is not by Rolex, to update the older and more easily marked acrylic glass. We don’t as a rule approve of such work, but this appears to have been very well executed, it modernises the watch and tests well for water-resistance. The new equivalent is now £13,950 ! £4,999 Stock number: 52-92-02531mm / mid-size Rolex Oyster Perpetual (non-date) model 177234 in stainless steel with smart black / diamond dot dial on Oyster 70160 bracelet. It comes with Rolex boxes, Oyster Perpetual booklet, numbered green swing-tag and UK papers dated October 2007 from Goldsmiths Group / Watches of Switzerland on Bond Street. This watch will originally have been fitted with a fluted, white metal bezel, but this has been replaced by a genuine Rolex polished stainless steel bezel (which would correctly be expected on the 177200 model) and the shoulders have been polished to match. It is a very attractive watch, but the keen price also reflects some minor marks to the hands, signs of ageing to the dial, a superficial bump on the case-back and the fact that the glass is generic, NOT by Rolex.

* Ladies’ Rolex Datejusts of this generation are often now found with one or more of the numerals in the case number obscured by bracelet wear. This was caused by the end-links rubbing constantly against the case. In this instance the fifth digit is partially obscured by bracelet wear, so we have checked all of the possible case numbers it might be….which is why we offer it with six ALR certificates, confirming that each of the possible numbers has been checked with them.

This is a very early example with “pin-hole” lugs and an E3xxxxx case number suggesting manufacture circa 1990. In lovely condition, it comes with Rolex boxes, Sea-Dweller accessory wallet (ref 100.25.34) and a Rolex UK service card dated February 2014. We have added a later Submariner / Sea-Dweller booklet from 2003, which illustrates the key operations of the watch. This model has long been a collector’s favourite; the new, fatter-cased / ceramic bezel version now has an RRP of £7,600!
