£2,299 Stock number: 52-24-038Rare, 1960s Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King Precision model 5500 in 9ct yellow gold with attractive silver / baton dial. This 1520 calibre model was common in stainless steel, but a small number were made in gold. We ask you to note that : (1) the dial and hands show some signs of age / wear / marks (2) we no longer guarantee these older, plastic glass models to be water-resistant (3) the gold case has typically worn with age and there are signs of repair / rebuilding to some lug-ends, where the gold is a slightly different colour and (4) the ostrich leather strap and and base-metal pin-buckle are both generic parts, NOT made by Rolex. The watch is priced very reasonably to reflect these points. It comes with a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them, our own presentation box and warranty card.

£6,199 Stock number: 52-25-015Rebuilt by Rolex! Stainless steel Rolex Date Submariner model 16610 with black dial and bezel insert on Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet. Comes with Rolex boxes, Submariner booklet, a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them and a Rolex UK service slip dated May 2008. At that time the watch appears to have had a massive rebuild through Rolex UK: it was given a replacement case, bracelet parts, possibly the dial and more besides. We understand that the original watch was UK-supplied at Mappin & Webb in March 1997. It now shows only modest signs of wear. The rebuild in 2008 returned it to excellent condition but at the cost of originality. Please ask for Phil or Paul from our Rolex-trained Watch Team if you would like to know more. The larger, NEW equivalent is now £7,150 (if you can find one!), but these earlier models have proved increasingly popular in their own right.

£9,499 Stock number: 52-26-003Beautiful example of a highly desirable “PEPSI” GMT-Master. Stainless steel Rolex GMT-Master II model 16710 T with black “SWISS MADE” dial and so-called “Pepsi” red / blue bezel insert on Oysterlock 78790A bracelet. This lovely 3185-calibre model has original boxes, GMT-Master booklet, both swing-tags* and UK papers from Peers Jewellers in Blackpool dated July 2004. It is in superb condition – even the 16710 sticker is still in place on the case-back! The market for NEW steel GMT-Masters has now gone mad but in any event these slightly slimmer, previous-generation models have in the last couple of years enjoyed a very strong market that has been all their own. A quick search of UK dealers will illustrate that many are asking significantly more than this for similar 16710 GMT-Masters!
* While many GMT-Masters have in recent years been converted into “PEPSI” versions through the simple swapping of one bezel insert for another, the numbered green swing-tag here proves that this watch originally left Rolex with a blue and red bezel. It is explicitly denoted as a “16710BLRO“

This random case number watch is in superb condition having just had £925 of service work including a new glass! While it no longer has its original warranty card, we have seen this watch previously and noted that it was first supplied in Canada in August 2014. The NEW ceramic bezel models now have an RRP of £10,500 but “waiting lists” are generally closed and that version is commonly being sold on the secondary market for around £19,000. This has made the 116520 an extremely attractive purchase and it remains in its own right one of the most sought after models.

£2,399 Stock number: 50-14-005Stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King-Date model 5700 with dark grey / baton dial, unusually fitted with a Jubilee 62510 bracelet that has probably been fitted later to replace the more common Oyster 78350. This somewhat collectible model dates from around 1977. To change the date on this 1520-calibre model, one simply advances the main hands forwards or backwards past midnight. In fine condition for its age, but please note that (1) the bracelet shows some signs of wear, (2) we no longer guarantee these older, plastic glass models to be water-resistant and (3) time-keeping may-not be as accurate as a modern, chronometer-rated Rolex. £2,999 Stock number: 52-22-028Of interest to collectors! Stainless steel Rolex Oysterquartz Datejust model 17000 from the late 1970s. Note the original, early dial with no “SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER” text but just the simple “OYSTERQUARTZ” name in the lower half of the dial. Contrary to the widely-held belief of a million wine-bar experts, for over twenty years Rolex DID make a quartz watch whose second hand TICKS rather than sweeps, as one might otherwise rightly expect of their mechanical watches. These Oysterquartz models are quite rare and their chunky looks are not to everyone's taste, but they have a following and this early example is in very nice condition. Under close examination one can see that the dial has lost some of the expired luminous dots from its chapter ring (rim), but we would rate it as 85% condition, excellent for its age. The bracelet is in outstanding condition and has an “MA5” clasp code, suggesting that it has been replaced at some point from late 2005 onwards. The watch comes with later Rolex boxes, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. We like to warn prospective buyers just how LOUD the ticking sound always is on the Rolex 5035 quartz module: if you enjoy stalking lions, work for the Special Forces or are plagued by fears that a ticking bomb might be under your living room chair, this may not be the model for you. Offered with a one year warranty, since the Oysterquartz range is now discontinued.
