This 2004 model comes with original Rolex 16570 boxes, Explorer booklet and undated EU papers. It is in very good condition, the bezel showing some minor marks and having been sympathetically refurbished. The NEW equivalent is now £6,800 but these previous versions, like the earlier generations of many professional-series Rolex models, are attracting great interest in their own right. £12,499 Stock number: 52-41-01136mm Rolex Day-Date model 18238 in 18ct yellow gold with sparkling silver / diamond dot dial on President 8385 bracelet. In excellent condition for its age, this watch comes with large Rolex 18238 boxes, Day-Date booklet, numbered green swing-tag and original, punched papers from Oman. These papers are dated October 1990 (which is consistent with the watch’s L537xxx case number), but someone has subsequently tried to make the date look like “1999”, as if the watch were much newer. We have now added “1990” clearly on the papers to prevent any later misunderstanding. The 18238 was the first model to feature the double quick-set feature for easy, independent alteration of the Day and Date, thanks to its 3155 calibre movement. The NEW equivalent is now £29,100!

£17,999 Stock number: 52-41-010Glittering diamond and gold Rolex Day-Date ! 36mm Rolex Day-Date in 18ct yellow gold, model 18338 on President 8385 bracelet. The model reference confirms that the diamond-set shoulders are original from the factory, by Rolex. The champagne / diamond dot dial is ALSO a genuine Rolex part, but has been fitted later. This colour dial would normally be matched with champagne-colour day & date display discs, though some find these white ones easier to read. This eye-catching watch is in very good condition with only moderate wear to the bracelet. It comes with Rolex Day-Date boxes, Day-Date booklet, UK papers from Mappin & Webb at T4 Heathrow dated May 1999 and a Rolex UK service card dated January 2015. This series of Day-Date with its 3155 calibre movements was the first to feature the double quick-set feature for easy, independent alteration of the Day and Date. A direct, NEW equivalent model with diamond lugs is no longer offered, but one even without the diamond shoulders is now £34,600 — and the last time we could find a model with diamond shoulders (December 2017) they added £3,800 to the new RRP ! We note that one of the features which betrayed pre-millennium Day-Dates was their brushed shoulders. It is a bonus with this watch that the original, diamond-set shoulders remove that visual indicator, so it appears closer to much later models.

£11,499 Stock number: 52-37-00136mm Rolex Day-Date “Tridor” model 18039B in three-colour 18ct gold from approx 1986 on matching white, rose and yellow gold President 8285 bracelet. Comes with brown “luggage” Rolex box, genuine 1986 Day-Date booklet (both being increasingly valuable accessories), our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. The silver / diamond dial has been added later – it is a genuine Rolex part, but the yellow coronet betrays the fact that it was intended for an all-yellow gold Day-Date. The white gold winding crown, however, IS correct for the TRIDOR model. We note some signs of wear / restoration to the bracelet and that the glass is generic, not from Rolex. All such factors are reflected in the price. There is no current NEW equivalent, but the TRIDOR Day-Date was traditionally more expensive than the plain, white gold version, whose new equivalent today is £32,000.

Breath-taking Rolex Datejust Pearlmaster 29 “Tridor,” model 80298 in three-colour yellow, white and rose 18ct gold! Click through the main image for additional photos. Has captivating black mother of pearl / diamond dot dial and all-original, full diamond bezel on 72948 Tridor bracelet. Very much “on trend” with Rolex's recent choice of rose metals, chocolate-coloured dials and diamonds. £18,999 Stock number: 52-18-023Single-owner watch, of interest to collectors and fresh from Rolex service : an early, stainless steel Rolex “Zenith” Cosmograph DAYTONA with “inverted 6” dial! Stainless steel Cosmograph Daytona model 16520 with E49xxxx case number from approx 1991. Fitted with classic Oyster 78360 bracelet (as many early ones were) on 503 end-links, its “N4” clasp date code suggesting this is original to the watch. Has black / “inverted 6” dial (click through main picture for more images). In excellent condition with minimal signs of age to the dial / hands and a sensitively polished bezel. Comes with a period Rolex box-set and very rare, correct COSMOGRAPH Daytona booklet in English with print-code from 1990, depicting the earliest examples with “floating text” dial (which preceded this version). That booklet alone sells for hundreds of pounds! It also has a green document-holder, red swing-tag and two Rolex UK service slips: one from September 1998 and the other from December 2020, when it had a comprehensive overhaul costing £900. The Rolex service stickers and bezel protector are still in place! There is also a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked the watch with them (Rolex UK will also have checked it against their own records, before service). These early versions of the first automatic Daytona, with Zenith-based 4030 calibre movement, have proved particularly popular with a growing generation of collectors. While a Rolex UK service can make many watches look fantastic, this one also went unworn for about ten years. As the seller explained, he thought he had lost it for that long — only for it finally to turn up on top of the wardrobe, where he had put it for safety when decorating a decade before!

Highly desirable, stainless steel Rolex Date Submariner model 16610 T / LV with Mark IV maxi dial and green “slim 4” / “thin 4” bezel insert on a brand new Oyster Fliplock 93250 bracelet supplied by Rolex. This is a V6xxxxx case-number watch in excellent condition with both boxes, Submariner booklet, red swing-tag, original UK warranty card from Aurum Group (Goldsmiths in Liverpool One) dated May 2010 and two Rolex UK service cards dated September 2013 and December 2020 (all three cards explicitly confirming that it is an original 16610LV). Correctly, this version has a numbered inner rehaut. It most recently enjoyed a full mechanical overhaul at Rolex UK costing £758, which also included a new bezel insert, glass and crown. There is a fatter, new equivalent model made by Rolex, though usually not available without a huge premium now. The older models have been increasingly sought after since they were discontinued a few years ago. Although the bracelet does show moderate wear, this mid-1980s model with 3035 calibre movement is in surprisingly nice condition for its age. It has been fitted with a replacement acrylic glass that is not by Rolex. It comes with original 16013 box set, Datejust booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register to confirm that we checked it with them. It appears that this watch was sold in February 1987 by Laing the Jeweller in Edinburgh, but unfortunately (as was surprisingly common) that jeweller gave the wrong COSC certificate out with it, which has now been retained to avoid confusion. Please note that we no longer guarantee these older, plastic glass models to be water-resistant. The new equivalent is now £9,350!

In beautiful condition with genuine Cellini 4112/8 boxes, a Rolex booklet about Benvenuto Cellini (in whose honour their dress watches are named), our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. This is a non-automatic, mechanical model whose 1602 calibre movement correctly requires manual winding daily. It cannot be expected to be as accurate as a quartz or self-winding model. As a slim dress watch, it is not water-proof. While the strap bears the original, hallmarked 18ct buckle by Rolex, the leather part is a generic replacement, not from Rolex. This is a very stylish and slim Rolex dress watch, contrasting with the chunky looks of the more common Oyster range.

The bracelet is a later Rolex upgrade, its clasp date code consistent with it having been fitted during service at Rolex UK in 1989. To change the date on this 1520-calibre model, one simply advances the main hands forwards or backwards past midnight. In fine condition for its age, but please note that (1) the dial shows some marks and other signs of age, (2) we no longer guarantee these older, plastic glass models to be water-resistant and (3) time-keeping may-not be as accurate as a modern, chronometer-rated Rolex.
