£8,999 Stock number: 52-67-017Still in stickers from Rolex UK Service! 36mm Rolex Datejust model 16238 in 18ct yellow gold with silver / diamond dot dial dial on a Rolex strap. This circa 1990 model comes with brown “luggage” style Rolex box, Datejust booklet, a scanned extract of Rolex UK service paperwork and their service guarantee card dated March 2021. At that time the watch enjoyed £1,192 worth of work including a full movement overhaul, new glass, spring-bars, crown, alligator strap and gold-plated Rolex pin-buckle! It was 2011 when a NEW equivalent 36mm gold Datejust on a strap was last offered in the UK and with a diamond dot dial this would have cost £13,630 then. Prices generally have risen very considerably in the 12 following years ! This watch is in excellent condition and we believe it has been barely out of the box since the 2021 service. Under close examination we can see some signs of superficial, historic grazing to the bezel and that the model number has worn off, but the crucial, unique case number is very clear and this corresponds with Rolex’s records, confirming it to be a 16238. This Z87xxxx case number watch from around 2007 is in exceptional condition. It has spent much of its life in storage and indeed we know its history from when we first bought it, unworn in delivery stickers, twelve years ago (see narrative below). It comes with Rolex boxes, correct Submariner booklet, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. Demand for such models in the steel Professional range may never have been greater. We are thus selling it at a premium to the NEW equivalent model’s RRP which is now £8,050 – if only you could find one!
This watch has something of an interesting history. In December 2010, Miltons spent £168,000 in a single day buying some 60 unworn, stickered Rolex watches including Sea Dwellers 16600s, stainless steel Date Submariner 16610s, Yachtmaster 16622s, Explorers 14270 / 114270 / 16570 and others. Oddly, all the watches lacked bracelets. A photograph of the watches that we won and the cover of the original auction catalogue may be viewed if you click through the main image. The story was that HMRC had intercepted these watches being smuggled into the UK in parts. Customs had seized the watch-heads and ultimately auctioned them off in a single sale to an audience of international dealers and private buyers in London. Miltons were the largest buyer by far and took home over a third of the entire sale. With the blessing of Rolex UK we were then able to purchase all the new, genuine bracelets required to make the watches complete…but for an additional £40,000+ !

* When new, this K31xxxx case number Submariner could have been fitted with either the 93150 or 93250 version of the Oyster Fliplock bracelet and indeed more commonly the latter by November 2001. There was something of a transitional period, but as it is a 16610 with pierced lugs we chose to fit it with the 93150 bracelet which may thus be considered appropriate, the solid end link 93250 more commonly being seen on the 16610 T which had solid lugs.

This is the short-lived transitional model (crudely named the “fat lady” by collectors) with 3085 calibre movement, its R36xxxx case number suggesting it is from 1987. Showing slight signs of its age (including some bumps to the bezel rim) but still a very attractive piece, coming with period Rolex boxes, a GMT-Master booklet from 1989, our own warranty card and a certificate from the ALR Watch Register confirming that we checked it with them. It appears from the date code in the bracelet clasp that this part has been replaced at a later date. The current, much fatter new equivalent model is now £8,400 but these earlier models have proved increasingly desirable in their own right.

£9,499 Stock number: 52-53-011Discontinued and collectible! 40mm stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Milgauss model 116400 with black / index baton dial having orange detail and “lightning” seconds hand, on Oyster 72400 bracelet. In superb condition with both boxes, Milgauss booklet and UK warranty card from David M. Robinson dated October 2011. The first Milgauss was the model 6541 introduced back in 1956; subsequent models remained in production until 1988, albeit for the most part in the form of the next-generation 1019 variant. It was designed as an especially anti-magnetic model for nuclear scientists near Rolex HQ in Switzerland but has since won desirability in its own right. This watch is one of the newer versions launched at Basel in 2007. Many clients love the modern Milgauss simply for being such a big watch, with its attractive, clear dial options and funky colour accents. This specific variant is itself no longer in production and like many such Professional series watches has a market all of its own.

This watch is from approx 1980; its head is in excellent condition and dial almost unmarked, but the bracelet shows some signs of age and we suggest that it is now best kept for dress wear only. It comes with its large, correct 18048 boxes, a later Oyster booklet, Rolex UK service card dated January 2016 and our own warranty card. The NEW equivalent is now £32,150!

It is in excellent condition with only superficial wear to the edge of the glass. We first sold this watch some years ago with a silver / index baton dial, but before trading it back in with us the owner had this genuine Rolex “Wimbledon” dial fitted by a third party watchmaker. We have seen receipts which confirm that the Rolex service card relates to the fitting of a diamond dial and full service by the manufacturer in February 2014 at a cost of £2,600 through main agent David M. £9,699 Stock number: 52-60-021Desirable “four-line” Rolex Submariner with box, warranty card etc. Stainless steel Rolex non-date Submariner model 14060M with black dial and bezel insert on Oyster Fliplock 93150 bracelet. This G-series watch with four-line “SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED” text and numbered inner rehaut is one of the very last examples of what has in recent years become an extremely desirable model. Earlier versions did not feature the additional SCOC text on the dial. It is in excellent condition, having been serviced by Rolex UK in 2019 when a new glass was also fitted. Comes with Rolex boxes, Submariner booklet, numbered green swing-tag, international Rolex warranty card dated March 2013 and Rolex UK service card dated April 2019. It seems that today’s market increasingly appreciates the proportions and value of this generation of Rolex sports models.
